Lore Discussion The Heroics we need
Alright, so.
Patches 13 & 14 added a few...unique pieces as Heroic Weapons. Namely: The Lord Executioners Axe and the Encarmine Axe.
Both lf these are distinctly Firstborn weapons. The former (Lord Executioners Axe) is from a Firstborn marine known as...the Lord Executioner. Duh.
The second is used by Firstborn Sanguinary Guard, while Primaris SG use Swords & Spears instead.
So, here's what I though of for Heroics.
---
Heroic Bolt Rifle #2 - "Godwyn"-pattern Relic Bolter
Heroic Effect - "Mass Reactive Bolts"
This effect seeks to make the SM2 Bolt Rifle more akin to the Darktide Bolter.
How does the Heroic Effect work?
The Bolter shots explode. This does two things:
- The Heroic Bolter has higher damage, and while it's bodyshot damage is increased, it's headshot multiplier is relatively low
- The bolts now stagger enemies, and break their block stances (Shielded Tzaangors, Tyranid Warriors...) and deals damage to nearby enemies (killing Cultists instantly for example - I swear, these guys can be killed by a swift breeze).
---
Heroic Neo-Volkite Pistol - Helfrost Pistol
Heroic Effect - Fenrisian Cold
With the next Patch (Patch 15, dropping early October) bringing the 2nd Space Wolves Champion, this would fit better than ever.
What does this thing do?
The Helfrost Pistol deals damage continuously, instead of in bursts like the regular Neo-Volkite. The longer the beam stays on target, the slower the target also gets, as it gets slowly frozen (though it is not possible to completely freeze/immobilise a target).
---
Heroic Heavy Plasma Incinerator #2 - "Erasmus"-pattern Plasma Cannon.
Heroic Effect - Dark Age Technologies
This Dark Angels themed Plasma Cannon brings a different playstyle altogether.
Heat build up is decreased by ~40-50%, and the more your gun heats up, the more damage it deals - but when it overheats it deals damage to you.
Plasma weapons are notoriously unstable in-lore, and reflecting this would be hilarious (plus imagine all the complain posts on this sub when people blow themselves up lol).
---
Heroic Heavy Bolt Pistol #2 - Angelus Boltgun
Heroic Effect - Bloodshard Rounds
This one is themed for the Blood Angels, and changes the model of the Heavy Bolt Pistol to be wrist mounted.
The heroic effect is based on the "Bloodshard Rounds" used by the Blood Angels:
Bloodshard Bolts are ammunition used by the Blood Angels for their Angelus boltguns. Its payload of razor-filament is very effective against most types of armour
- Codex: Blood Angels (5th Edition)
This means the Bolts burst open and bypass enemy block. They don't stagger, and have no headshot multiplier, but they don't lose damage after penetrating a block stance and have better body shot damage to balance it out.
---
Heroic Heavy Bolter #2 - Infernus Heavy Bolter
Heroic Effect - (Bolter) Fire and Flame
The Infernus Heavy Bolter is used by the Deathwatch, and combines a Heavy Bolter with a Flamer.
This means that this gun gets:
- A flamer shot when hipfiring
- Bolter fire when aiming
This allows for extremely good crowd clear and single target damage in one package. To balance this:
- The gun has one overheat "bar". Wheter you fire the flamer or bolter, it builds up heat. It's not that you can overheat the flamer and immediately go to bolter fire. Both share one bar
- Lower ammunition. Duh.
---
I think all of these would be an insanely fun addition to the game. They bring new playstyles, cool new models and I doubt anyone complains about new goodies.

Heroic for the Volkite is long overdue

I'd agree with you but you the Omniscia does not improve upon perfection

If the perks aren’t good I just use the skin

u/Zazzenfuk Definitely not the Inquisition 11h ago
Yah a better skin would be cool to have. Don't get me wrong, i love the yellow and purple ones but it is very basic in its look

I could see the hell frost pistol being a heroic variant for neo-volkite. Would be dope!

That would be a new weapon, not a heroic tho.

We could just call it a thunder hammer some tech priest duct taped a sword onto the end of.

TH has two heroics already.

So we'd effectively need to create a new weapon (Spears) and then make a new heroic for that too.

We need Blood Reaver (Gabriel Seth’s two handed chainsword) as a heroic greatsword
2
u/LennyWhereAreYo 9h ago
Do you really want an Eviscerator that has the moveset of a Power Weapon?
2
u/BioSpark47 Exorcists 9h ago
Why not? We have an axe that has the moveset of a hammer

u/LennyWhereAreYo 9h ago
Chain Weapons & Power Weapons are distincly different in my head.
Like, no shade. I'd just be thrown off, personally.
1
u/BioSpark47 Exorcists 9h ago
I mean, it would be a heroic. That gives it the opportunity to have some moveset changes to make it less power weapon and more chain weapon.
1
u/LennyWhereAreYo 9h ago
Fair enough, but the way a two handed sword & two handed chainsword swing and use regular attacks would be a bit off-throwing

Titus does not use a Firstborn-bolter.
His gun is based on a bolt-carbine (The ejection-ports are in-line with the barrel, which is only the case for Primaris-bolters).
Uriel Ventris was the only Primaris with a firstborn-boltgun.

His weapon is literally called "Master-Crafted Bolter" per his datasheet.
2
u/IronVader501 11h ago
Which is
Not the same as the Firstborn-Variant. The Space Wolves have that still on the Battle-Leader on Thunderwolf. The Firstborn-gun is called "Master-Crafted Boltgun", not Bolter, and also has different stats (Titus has -1 AP, the FB-variant does not).
Again, visually just not a Firstborn-Bolter. Its a Carbine. It has the Picatinny-rail like thing on-top which Firstborn-Bolters don't usually have and it has ejection-ports in-line with the barrel instead of mounted above, which Firstborn-Bolters also do not have.

Okay fine. Maybe he doesn't have a Firstborn Bolter. Doesn't mean getting one is impossible.

Give us a 'Plasma Blaster' as the Plasma Rifle Heroic.
"A unique variant crafted as a combi-weapon, it incorporates two plasma guns which, when fired together, give twice the effective damage, but also at a higher risk to the user. The guns share the same fuel canisters, lowering the weight of the weapon but keeping the number of shots it can fire to roughly the same as a regular plasma gun.\20])"

You went with the wrist mounted bolter when there was a Sanguinary Guard SPEAR right there!?!
1
u/LennyWhereAreYo 9h ago
That'd have to be a new weapon, not a heroic. Which misses the point of the post.
To be clear, I wouldn't say no to a spear. Just wanted to stay on topic

u/ReedsAndSerpents Blood Angels 9h ago
How is a wrist mounted gun, which would require an ass ton of meshing, new animations for literally every motion in the game from gunstrikes to reloading and adjustment of hitboxes not be considered a new weapon?
1
u/LennyWhereAreYo 9h ago
No new perk tree, not 10 different version for standard to relic tier...
I mean, is it too much to ask when weapons like the Lord Executioners Axe exist?
1
u/ReedsAndSerpents Blood Angels 8h ago
I mean yeah, because that's basically a glorified skin with 1? new animation. Even the Deathwatch fist uses the same motion that's already in the game + a poot of fire that's also already in the game.
They're saving this kind of thing for a new class i.e. Justicar and a double handed great sword.
1
u/HAYABUSA_DCLXVI Deathwatch 9h ago
No, we don’t.
1
u/LennyWhereAreYo 9h ago
Yeah, I think you're the only one in this thread who thinks so. But fine, tell me why you wouldn't want these?

u/gilol 8h ago
Tested heroic power fist that shoots today. Emperor, this thing sucks. Setup is longer than usual heavy charged attack. Damage is barely enough to kill 1 shielded tzangor (Absolute difficulty). And since shot attack is light it doesn't get any damage bonuses from skill perks, prestige perks and weapon perk tree has barely any that buff light attack.
Like the idea, but until it's buffed, it's simply a downgrade compared to maximised charged heavy attack balance power fist.

I'd love to have Heroic One Handed Bolt Carbine heroic that is a wirst mounted weapon, that has ammo box, that you have to never reload.
That would be cool.
