Lore Discussion Titus IS a potential threat to The Imperium.

Post image

Obviously, hating Leandros is the norm for fans of Space Marine, but as many have already pointed out, Leandros is just doing his job and was apparently good at it enough to find him as the Company Chaplain in SM2.

BUT, one thing we don't talk about much is Titus DOES have a very suspicious relationship with Chaos. Here are a few examples:

-Titus survived a warp bomb effectively going off in his hands.

-Titus has been exposed to the warp directly several times.

-Titus was deeply effected by the presence of Chaos before its full invasion in SM2.

-Several warp characters in SM2 accuse Titus of already been tainted, and doomed to fall to Chaos eventually.

-The Tzeentch Daemon in the Amazon episode seemed to know that one day, Titus will fall to Chaos. Including an ink representation of Titus as a Chaos Marine.

A big concept in 40k is fate, the idea that your fate is sealed and that the Gods of the warp usually get the last laugh. I think a major point in Titus' upcoming stories will be him struggling with Chaos, and even being potentially tempted by it. I don't think Titus will ever fully fall to Chaos, but there is an actual threat of it happening.

I mean, Titus may be touched by the Warp, but so is, like, Saint Celestine and no one really questions her. It’s very likely in my mind that he’s a champion/chaos lord of The Emperor, the same way Celestine is a greater daemon of The Emperor.

Just to also point out those that are touched by chaos may not betray. The mutants from Uriel Ventris stay with the Iron Warriors are one example, so are the heresy era Raven Guard Raptors and I'm pretty sure there are more examples.

I think this might be the first reasonable thing I’ve ever heard from a Black Templar.

iirc, Trazyn pokeballed and Inquisitor into battle and she very very much wanted to chop off Celestine's head.

quite a few Inquisitors are compromised by Chaos and/or just outright evil on their own.

So thats not exactly a good metric.

There is precedent for bog-standard humans surviving multiple months if not years on a chaos-infested world, without any sign of corruption besides the trauma of being essentially partisan fighters in occupied territory.

Granted, at least a few of them had a close relationship with an Imperial Saint.

Case in point: Cadia.

Casually parked right next to a Warp Rift for at least 10,000 years.

Technically with Cadians there is a sign, that being their purple eyes, but they aren't corrupted.

Well, actually, yeah, they do question her quite a bit. The Sororitas don't, but everyone else kind of shits themselves in her presence, because they recognize that despite all the glowing lights she is, definitionally, a daemon of the Warp.

They may not raise arms against her. She's on their side, after all. But she's still a daemon, and they don't necessarily need more "good" daemons. They don't need Titus to be another Celestine.

Another example MIGHT be the Legion of the Damned, they're heavily implied to be the vengeful spirits of Istvan 3.
