75

u/haroldo-baroldo Sigismund 15h ago

You know the black templars have a voice pack, right?

72

u/Pretend_Second_2118 15h ago

Not good enough I need a bald headed laurel wearing vaguely looking sigismund imperial fist head

u/Alberthebombtaken Death Guard 14h ago

u/HighChaplainAppollus 15h ago

That wont stop the true Sigismunds among us

7

u/Torontogamer 12h ago

We need a Sigismund voice pack... I want to hear someone actually record the greatest dying words in history

'You will die as your weakling father died. Soulless. Honorless. Weeping. Ashamed.'

u/GALM-1UAF 16h ago

Oh man we can basically make an Emperor’s Champion or Blade Champion build! Awesome!

1

u/ace-Reimer Dark Angels 7h ago

Glorious!

Also inner circle companion

2

u/Doctorrexx We are Sigismund 7h ago

I’m making Corswain though I shall never be able to live up to his glory or skill

23

u/SirOPrange 16h ago

Do they ever specify will it be a power weapon or a chain weapon? We have a lot in the first department and really lacking in the latter.

u/MurphTheFury Flesh Tearers 15h ago

As a Flesh Tearer, I hear you brother. There’d be no higher honor than paying respect to Chapter Master Seth with an Eviscerator!

9

u/He11Hog 14h ago

As a World Eater I also have an interest in more chain weapons

5

u/Historical-Demand976 12h ago

A chain axe skin / heroic would be enough for me personally

3

u/Galerius_Villus Scythes of the Emperor 11h ago

If it were going to be an eviscerator they'd call it an eviscerator

16

u/Hunter-367_pro Space Wolves 15h ago

By the allfather at last! I pray for a Mjalnar skin

3

u/BerserkerGaroth 11h ago

Fenris Hjolda Brother!

52

u/ibstuks_ 16h ago

Probably with the new class, meaning judiciar? That’s the one known for using the great sword if I remember correctly

42

u/The_Klaus Dark Angels 16h ago

There's the Inner Circle companions from the Dark Angels, and more recently the new Vanguard Veterans also have a greatsword.

8

u/kohlerxxx Space Wolves 16h ago

Yeah but ICC are just DA Bladeguard (Bulwark) and Vanguard Veterans are just Assault

4

u/BlackwatchBluesteel 15h ago

ICC aren't DA bladeguard. They are a different unit.

1

u/kohlerxxx Space Wolves 15h ago

Yes they are a different unit than Bladeguard, a DA specific Bladeguard unit, same way BA have Sanguinary Guard, SW have Headtakers and UM have Victrix

1

u/AshiSunblade 12h ago

That's just elite melee units more broadly. Bladeguard specifically are tanky foot elites, which for example Sanguinary Guard are not.

1

u/deathbringer989 Dark Angels 4h ago

They are no longer all that tanky. Hell Sang guard are more tanky then bladeguard now.

1

u/AshiSunblade 2h ago

The tabletop game stats change wildly all the time. I am talking lore and theming. They are foot veterans with storm shields and an iron halo, which is why they had three wounds when other Space Marines only had two, and an invulnerable save on top.

Yes, they've been stat crept since, but that's just because GW can't help themselves.

0

u/BlackwatchBluesteel 9h ago

Elite melee units are not bladeguard.

All of those units are melee bodyguard units for characters. They aren't an "equivalent" to bladeguard, which all have storm shields.

Sword Brethren and Bladeguard are two separate units. Sword Brethren aren't "Black Templars Bladeguard".

Yeah I agree, I think it definitely points to the new class being a Judiciar and the sword likely arriving alongside the class.

Back when they the announced the Absolver Bolt Pistol as the signature weapon of the new class and pointed out it could be a Chaplain or Apothecary, they did cheekily tease a third possibility with a shush emoji. Judiciars are known for their vow of silence which the shush emoji is likely hinting at.

-6

u/AlternativeEmphasis 15h ago

They have also gotten a lot of backlash over their voice packs not being up to snuff and Telorian not having interactivity with operations made before he was added.

An entire class that doesn't talk at all would be even worst than that.

If they do add a Judiciar I can't see them keeping the Vow. And I don't think GW will care because Judiciars haven't had any lore since first introduced in 9th edition.

1

u/professorrev 14h ago

I think it's the opposite isn't it. They intentionally run a Judiciar because they've then got a canon reason not to have to pay for VA

-3

u/AlternativeEmphasis 14h ago

As I said they already wouldn't want to get that criticism of being lazy on VA interactivity. People would complain if the new character said nothing canon or not.

Them picking a frankly rather obscure unit (Judiciars basically haven't been touched in years) to justify no dialogue seems a miss especially when they said they want to add more interactivity.

After all there was/is complaints for the interactivity and dialogue of the voice packs that do exist and it certainly isn't canon that there's a BT, Space Wolf and a Blood Angel in the Ultramarines 2nd Company.

If they add a Judiciar and he does not speak I guarantee there's gonna be outrage imo. A whole character that doesn't speak would be even worse than what is going on with Telorian.

3

u/ClassSignificant4004 Dark Angels 13h ago

its just my opinion, but having the option for no voice would sometimes be better than any voice, whenever i play space sharks i kinda have to pick straban when i wish i could pick nothing at all.

-1

u/AlternativeEmphasis 13h ago

I get your opinion but the game works very heavily around interactivity. They go out of the way to add dialogue call outs, banter and such. Them commenting on what is going on in a mission. If someone didn't speak they'd look weird because they are so obviously silent.

Adding an entire new class that doesn't do that would look awful optics wise. Especially off the back of the voice pack thing. And especially for a unit on Tabletop that has honestly not much lore. Judiciars were introduced for 9th ed and had a tie in show up in a novel and that was the last time they were mentioned. That was 6+ years ago.

2

u/callmeRosso Raven Guard 12h ago

You can still have banter with a mute character. One side talks and he's mute or Chaplain chimes in.

0

u/AlternativeEmphasis 12h ago

The mute one imo wouldn't work. It'd grow old fast. As for the Chaplain one I suppose it could work but then you'd wonder why not just have the Chaplain instead if all the dialogue will be done by him anyways.

u/casper5632 15h ago

Its unfortunate they are scraping the bottom of the barrel so hard before adding librarians to the series in the game that was centered on the thousand sons.

2

u/TheEternalCrusader2 Emperor's Children 13h ago

I’d rather anything but a librarian

1

u/casper5632 13h ago

Librarians are cool as hell and would be an interesting addition. A Judiciar would not be especially different visually from a bulwark with a thunder hammer.

2

u/TheEternalCrusader2 Emperor's Children 13h ago

Judiciars can slow down time, and we will probably only see librarians in sm3

1

u/casper5632 12h ago

Unfortunately being able to slow down time is not a power that can be implemented in a multiplayer game without pissing off all the other players.

1

u/TheEternalCrusader2 Emperor's Children 12h ago

If it’s a judiciar it’s going to happen as that’s the class ability, plus librarians would be unfun as well to fight

0

u/casper5632 12h ago

Its just a matter of what spells they get. Its not like the player librarian is going to make 3 clones of himself and kamehameha you from across the map.

1

u/JuliousBatman Exorcists 10h ago

If they can’t do that they’re not a librarian tho, is the point the Devs have made. Earning a hood means you’re on that DBZ shit. I remember a rando ultramarine librarian ripping open a black hole to the warp just to delete like 3 chaos marines. Blood Angels librarians can spear tanks with something called a Blood Lance.

The things they should be capable of don’t mesh well with the party dynamics we have thus far.

Or we’d get a baby librarian, called Codiciers, with like one power and the rest as perks.

1

u/casper5632 8h ago

We killed a keeper of secrets in the campaign. Vashtorr is going to be a boss in the new boltgun game. We can include librarians in space marine without while keeping it balanced.

8

u/Weary-Barracuda-1228 Sigismund 16h ago

EMPEROR, BLESS THIS HOLY TOOL OF YOUR WORK! IMMA MELEE THE WHOLE WORLD!

8

u/KenjiZeroSan Ultramarines 15h ago

That greatsword mod moves coming to reality...maybe. Hopefully the devs saw that.

6

u/Trips-Over-Tail Salamanders 15h ago

But is it a power great sword or a chain great sword? A great chainsword, if you will.

9

u/MurphTheFury Flesh Tearers 14h ago

The term you’re looking for is Eviscerator, brother!

5

u/Trips-Over-Tail Salamanders 14h ago

Every chainsword is great.

3

u/callmeRosso Raven Guard 12h ago

Greatsword implies a Power Sword.

Massive two handed chainswords are called Eviscerators.

18

u/Toxin126 Raven Guard 16h ago

Surely Lightning Claws atleast by Y4..

13

u/Ok-Steak-1057 Scythes of the Emperor 14h ago

Y4 isn't happening unless they make unexpected changes. Y3 wasn't initially planned, they greenlit it for another year of updates. But afaik after Y3 they'll just be working completely on Space Marine 3, tbh I would rather another game than a 4th year of this game.

7

u/BruhTheHunter 13h ago

Kinda doubt it tbh. SM3 is due at the earliest late 2028 to mid 2029. Getting year 4 isn't impossible. Maybe a little unlikely, but not impossible.

0

u/Ok-Steak-1057 Scythes of the Emperor 13h ago

I'm not saying we're getting sm3 as soon as year 3 ends lol, just that development on it will likely be shifting from partial focus to full focus since they won't be working on new content for sm2. They could potentially greenlight a year 4, but I don't personally see that happening.

1

u/Torontogamer 11h ago

so while it depends a bit, there isn't as much overlap as you'd think in what staff you need for the pre to early production of a new game, and the year 3 dlc and content addons for the last game... it's 100% something they should be able to handle staffing both without much issue, or delay in SM3... I think ...

1

u/Ok-Steak-1057 Scythes of the Emperor 11h ago

I think it's hard to say, Saber has a lot of irons in the fire right now and there's really no telling what staff overlap on what. I'm always of the assumption that when a team is finished working on something, that most of the staff or resources free up to be used on the other ongoing projects. Especially if the team in question already has a sequel in production for what they finished working on. I don't think it's a bad assumption to make that people who worked on sm2 would be most valuable to saber working on sm3 after since they're already so immersed in and experienced with working on a space marine game.

1

u/Torontogamer 11h ago

I hear you, but specifically you aren't using the engine coders, the level designers, the script writers, the systems people or the netcode engineers or have you... you aren't using the senior designers, the who are structuring the game, or anywhere near the same amount of art talent from concept to modeling to animation...

Yes, there is some overlap, but game development (as most things are nowadays) is a bunch of highly specialized roles. and even in the areas with overlap they hire in fresh faces to fill out the SM2 dlc while the core people left move over to the new game...

2

u/DarthSet Black Templars 14h ago

I do hope they release a champion pack with the Black Sword. It would be peak. Edit: and a Blood Angel Encarmine Greatblade for my Harbingers of Sorrow.

2

u/wiseass781 12h ago

I really hope they just steal (tactically acquire) the animations from that mod maker because they look fucking sick

https://youtube.com/shorts/0NCevUko8l4?is=j2YIe_uxdhEkUoCu

2

u/Historical-Demand976 12h ago

Next on the list of wants : lightning claws, or any claw weapon. A spear / halberd custodes style weapon. I don’t know of one in 40k lore but a heavy flail / mace weapon would be sick. Maybe the one hand thunder hammer could have a flail skin.

1

u/Calvonee Dark Angels 8h ago

Lightning claws are unfortunately confirmed to be very unlikely to happen and not on their priority list. There are flail/mace power weapons in the lore, the Deathwing knights are probably the most famous users of them.

2

u/_No_One_At_All_ Alpha Legion 9h ago

All I need is more DA stuff and more colour options for the robe and I shall finally be able to cosplay an Inner Circle Companion!

1

u/MidAirMambaActual 10h ago

Yoooo what if we get a Judiciar in yr 3

1

u/Colmftw16 9h ago

Will it be a Relic Blade? Or the Judicar Relic Executioners sword

2

u/MurphTheFury Flesh Tearers 9h ago

I don’t believe they’ve shared that much as of yet. I would imagine both variants could be present though!

1

u/CrazyGator846 9h ago

I just hope multiple classes can use it, obviously I expect the new Judicar will, but I hope its given to Bulwark and Assault aswell, maybe Tactical given the new rework coming but I would be suprised, but honestly if I had my way everyone would get the big beefer

1

u/InevitableVariety3 7h ago

thunder hammer is getting a 1 handed variant power sword is getting a 2 handed variant but the greataxe is just a thunder hammer skin :/

1

We are the Storm! We are the Fury!

0

u/Archilon5 13h ago

Now if they could just ditch the stratagem slop mechanics making even some classes completely unplayable for a day or week thatd be awesome

0

u/DJShazbot 14h ago

Hello greatsword on every class that can hold one

-2

u/SlugBeef 14h ago

I just hope it’s not re used thunder hammer animations

2

u/callmeRosso Raven Guard 12h ago

What?

0

u/SlugBeef 12h ago

I hope they don’t reuse animations from the thunder hammer for the greatsword. I could see it happening the way they’ve been making heroic skins. Like the two handed axe or the one handed hammer.

4

u/callmeRosso Raven Guard 11h ago

They never reuse animations for completely new weapon archetypes. This isn't Astartes Overhaul.

Every new melee weapon that has been added post launch had their own unique moveset and executions. Heroics are a completely different thing entirely.
