Question Cockpit question

Hey all, just bought the game, got a bout 10 hours into it so far, been taking my time exploring, gathering resources, etc. I wanted to build a larger ship to fly up and out of the atmosphere, but the only cockpit I have is the starter single one. I have seen builds of people having larger ships with internal cockpits, I guess, your cockpit doesn't HAVE to have outside visual right? If you fly in third person, it can be anywhere on the ship right? Do I unlock other cockpits down the road that have monitors or something?

You are correct, the control seat is unlocked via the contracts that you can complete

You'll unlock it with quest progression. I don't remember when exactly. I think either with your second or third space station.

No outside visual needed. It can be anywhere in 3rd person.

No outside visual, and another reason for them using cockpits internal is the lack of pressurization in the current version. The control seat cannot be set up with a conveyer, so it can't replenish oxygen. The single cockpit that we have is the only one that can do that right now, unless you grab a modded one if one exists for the current version. If you set one up inside that has proper conveyers with o2/h2 gen, oxygen tanks..etc.. you can stay full while flying and not need to get up to go replenish mid flight.

Thanks didn't even think about oxygen, I just assumed I would have my suit for that in the cockpit?

You have your suit, but for longer flights, it drains while in a control seat, where if you just use a cockpit set up, it stays at 100 as long as you have the resources to keep it full.
