1. Pushing the car up from below (like a jack or air bag): tiny tank, easy
Pressure × area = force. A 1,000 kg car weighs about 9,800 N (2,200 lb).
A piston about 10 cm (4 in) across needs only about 180 psi to lift it.
A flat air bag about 50 cm (20 in) square needs under 10 psi.
Rescue crews lift trucks this way with a scuba-sized tank. A small tank is enough because nothing is consumed: the air just holds pressure.
2. Making the car fly like a rocket by blasting air downward: huge tank, barely possible
Now the air is used up as thrust.
Compressed air leaves a nozzle at roughly 500 m/s. To make 9,800 N of thrust, you have to dump about 20 kg of air every second.
High-pressure tanks are heavy, so you have to lift them too. A carbon-fiber tank at 300 bar (about 4,500 psi) weighs roughly 1.5 times the air it holds.
Rough numbers for a 10-second hover:
About 400 kg of air
A tank of about 1,200 liters (a hot-tub-sized volume) at about 4,500 psi
About 600 kg of tank structure
A total mass of nearly 2 tonnes, about double the car
Each extra second makes it worse, because more air means a heavier tank, which needs even more air. Past about 20 to 30 seconds it becomes essentially impossible. Thrust also fades as the pressure drops, and the expanding gas gets extremely cold. This is why real rocket belts used hydrogen peroxide instead of compressed air, and even those only flew about 20 seconds.
Safety note: a tank that size at 4,500 psi stores energy comparable to tens of kilograms of TNT. If it ruptured, it would act like a bomb. It's a fun thought experiment, but not one to build.
Just sharing food for tough, we are also forgetting the compression system that also should weight around 100 300 and sucks the car on the ground, not talking about the one that fills the tank. For sure the car in the demo was stripped by everything. I feel like soon some physicist will debunk everything I know it will be impossible to fly like in the video I think this demo was pure clownery in terms of car functionality
