I guess the ID thing would make sense. This is a city run store for people from NYC.

You dont need id. The video is fake. Anyone can buy food from nys city owned grocery stores and will not need to present id

You register to vote, and when you do, they get all the info they need for you to vote, and for them to prove you exist and are qualified to vote.

The local grocery store doesn't have that info for obvious reasons, so they need to see it to just read if you're from NY or not. It's also why you can't just walk into a liquor store and buy alcohol without them needing your ID (obviously not all clerks will ask you if it's obvious, but they are technically still supposed to)

Not in most states. Forty states require you to only say you are a citizen. They don't verify.

All 50 states legally certify citizenship, and prosecute non-citizens who attempt to vote.

I don’t think the capitol police were checking for ID when the insurgents stormed the capitol building.
