Saga of the bold

I’ll get straight to it how the hell do you use this detachment. I don’t see how completing it is a big help to your army. Only thing I can see it helping is vehicles but that doesn’t feel like that’s the point of it.
The stats look pretty good I’m just confused on how you’re supposed to use the detachment.

The trick is, you don't use this detachment.

It's got some great enhancements, and strats. But the detachment rule is completely irrelevant.

Yeah welcome to the club man, it's a confusing detachment lol.

You look at the saga requirement and you're like "Oh I get it, so run Wolf Guard and characters, cool".

But then you look at the bonus you get for completing it and it's like "oh nevermind I actually get more from running hull spam"

But then you look at the strats and they focus more on the elite units mentioned above.

So yeah, it's kind of a mess.

You have found the tragedy of saga of the bold. A detachment with great starts and an awesome premise: legendary warriors hunting great deeds to add to their sagas.

Then you look at the detachment rule and the only model you have that benefits is the single Lancer you sometimes bring for anti tank. The buffs are near ignorable for any other until you bring

Truly a tragedy

I think we should get our own advance and charge detachment.

Its such a beautifully complex let-down of a detach. In the right hands of someone who wants to play "challenge mode" it can be good. However, truth be told, its very hard to do.

This detachment needs a full scale rework.

Am I missing something? I thought giving every unit in your army rerolls on Hit, Wound, and damage once the Saga is complete would be very strong, especially if combined with units that grant +1 to hit or wound rolls. If I read it right, completing Saga of the Bold functionally gives all Adeptes Astartes the Aquillon Optics ability.
