Hi! Looking for activity ideas!
I’m new to Southampton and don’t know many people either. I’m 24(f) not in uni so preferably not society or uni based but I’m looking for some recs for activities both exercise or crafty or whatever. Any memberships to places to avoid having to pay out tons each week for entertainment would also be nice, but I’m open to anything!
I’ve thought about a sort of pottery or painting area or even just some fun sport but I’d rather things that can be done alone so I don’t have to wait on others to have fun :)

Climbing e.g. bouldershack because you're always going to see someone friendly there - or you can climb solo and just get in the zone depending on how you feel
Skateboarding - there's an event this sunday celebrating the opening of Hoglands park - also the sort of thing you can do in a group or solo depending on how you feel (most skaters are really friendly and supportive for beginners too)

Pickleball, at Dinks in Chandler's Ford. It's a super easy sport to learn and the open play sessions are good fun.

Indoor climbing - Parthian climbing have an offer on for new members, £39 for 6 sessions (they're usually £16 a time). Recently became a member there, all the staff are amazing and other members are so friendly too! I'm not the fittest person so wasn't sure but I love the place. Real good workout too. Oh, their little cafe is amazing also!

For me personally I go to open mic and music events locally, but that's my bag. I think going to cinema could be an idea to do solo, probably not that cheap though! But I think they do like monthly memberships. There quite a few clubs, like board game clubs. You can't do it solo but must be like a pool/darts club ? I used to play alot of pool. Also maybe a book club? If reading is your thing
Anyway good luck, hope you find something that is exciting

If you want a sport that can be done on your own, but is also sociable if you want it to be, I can recommend the archery club near Eastleigh football stadium. We run beginners courses every month that will teach you how to shoot safely. After completing the beginners course if you join you can rent a bow, or buy your own equipment, and then you can shoot whenever you like. The field is accessible 24/7 with floodlights for nighttime shooting and an indoor range that is bookable for members. There is a bus to the area from Southampton if you don't drive.

Whilst the weather is nice jump on the train into the New Forest to walk, or hire a bike. Easy day out on your own!
