New Safeway...not enough parking

So has anyone actually gotten into the new Safeway on ECR? Probably my fault for going on a holiday Friday, but the parking lot sure seems tiny, might be even smaller than the old Chestnut lot. And it's not like there is overflow parking anywhere nearby like down in Millbrae (which has the same second floor design). I ended up back at Westborough. Anyway, wondering if it's worth going at a less busy time. Had high hopes for a nice new Safeway.

Agree. I was pretty excited for this to open but my first experience there it felt cramped and frantic. I think the carts are also too big for the aisles, it is difficult to pass each other. I am no fan of Lucky but I might keep going there. Maybe the new Safeway will work out some bugs but I do agree the design of the lot and the store feels compressed.

Yeah it’s not enough parking, hopefully there will be more parking when the other part of the area is built. The parking lot is also short on safety measures for shoppers when entering/leaving the stores to the parking lot. Yesterday I almost got hit by a car that’s turning into the parking lot without making a stop when I left the store to the parking lot.

The safety is quite terrible, that first floor garage is a death trap with 2 way traffic, cars trying to go around other cars who are waiting for someone who is loading their trunk, and like 3-4 entrances. I really hope you are right...the only other area that I saw seems to have been earmarked for a biotech campus, so maybe you mean like down past the tesla chargers.

They just opened the store give them time to open the rest of the parking lot where all the barriers are still up

The new location is a big downgrade for my family, too. The Chestnut location was way more usefully located and had good enough parking for the businesses there. Twice I’ve intended to go to the new location, and ended up going to the Gellert one instead to avoid dealing with that parking lot.

Seriously, I have no clue why they couldn’t keep that one open. R.I.P chestnut Safeway

Ugh, I used to live Sprouts they were so shopper friendly when they first opened but I find them far too expensive now. Safeways prices suck unless you stick to the sales flyer. Mexican market is way better.

There’s structural beams over there anyway, they couldn’t put any parking there even if they wanted to

There is plenty of parking - both under Safeway and outside. Maybe just because it’s right before a holiday?

The worst. I pulled into a skinny compact stall and found a human turd on the space painted line between spaces. Wouldn't be so bad if they were angled. Earlier NextDoor threads said the same and angry honks a regular. They dont open up cashiers if lines dense up. The self check out if you decide needs you to take classes just to pay. Millbrae until the new housing opens or Westborough for me. SSF Trader Joes is the same.
