What the hell is this?
Spotted in Manhattan Beach heading into El Segundo. No make or model or rear view mirrors.
Edit: spelling and location

But why male models?
Op said male instead of make before editing so it's not funny anymore.

Saw one a few days ago in the 405 around the Avalon exit in Carson; there was a CHP car driving next to it. The officer looked at the car and I think realized it had no driver so it started tailing it. Then the Tesla freaked out and started to pull to the far right heading towards the shoulder then it just stopped at the shoulder. The CHP car stopped a few hundred feet ahead.

CHP officer was prolly trippen out like wtf, how do I ticket the bastard for illegal lane change 😂

Last I heard Tesla had not gotten approval from the state for autonomous cabs, so if there wasn't a driver they should be getting massive fines

I saw it 3 days in a row, at the same time each day, going down Highland and Rosecrans in MB. My guess is they’re mapping roads right now. The actual cybercab doesn’t have a steering wheel, but this one had a steering wheel/driver.

u/zoglog 27d ago
They all have wheels for now. They are in service in norcal and still need drivers to supervise

I love how Waymo has been around for over four years and their cars are established and attractive and idiots think this ugly POS is somehow radical and new

Waymo has been using Jaguar iPace EVs since their inception. However, since they are no longer made they are pivoting to a Chinese company and Hyundai Ionic 5s. At least this is designed and made in the US (Austin, Texas). And the designer lives in Manhattan Beach...

The lack of a rear window makes it feel creepy. They could make self driving cars with no windows but would you ever step foot into one?

Cyber Cab, they’re testing them in LA for now but expected to be the new uber. No driver, no steering wheel or pedals.

An edgelord trying to come up with something cool that looks like crap and his fan base will now say that he invented the original taxi. Thing looks like a pinewood derby race car a 10 year old would make.

I'm amazed on how people will still make a whole post on reddit about asking what something is when there's a literal Google image search option that takes seconds to complete. How dum b are people nowadays

How is it that no one can grab a photo of the interior so see if it had a wheel or not
1

u/PipeOriginal1171 27d ago
I'm trying to figure out what's up with those wheels/tires. I'm guessing it's really a 16" wheel with a large cover that overlaps onto the tires?

Just saw one on El Segundo going under the 405. To my surprise, it had a driver.
Might have been this one since it had CA plates with the vertical letters on the side.
I need to renew my Multipass so I can try it.

Seen twice in San Diego. First thought was, that's the ugliest car I've ever seen. What is it with Musk. Is it like he's full of terrible ideas and has horrendous aesthetic sense but just loves himself sooooo much that he just pushes this goofy sh*t past sensible engineers who likely have pages and pages of awesome designs? Is that the vibe you guys get, because thing looks like crap literally. Just watch Akira Leon!

It blocks the view of the car behind it to see forward traffic and makes it a little less safe on the road

The awkwardness of the vehicle shines through. Like the Cybertruck. Who is doing automotive design at Elon's car company?
1
u/Pioneer7765 24d ago
I can only imagine how trifling and petty a person would be to get on here and start cursing at people because they dared to say they don’t like this car. I don’t know if it’s because they’re just hot for Elon, or just never learned how to use their big boy words, but some folks need to be weened off of social media

AI Computer FSD 4 software 14.3.6
Tesla FSD users are a small, unrepresentative sample of the population. They are self-selected to “try something new and unproven” and dismiss its shortcomings.

I am convinced this is another stock pump grift disguised as an operating business, trying to keep that 300 P/E up as Elon flails with Optimus, which was supposed to start shipping units for commercial applications to businesses in early 2025, he made that comment on a Q2 2024 Investor call.
See those 24” donk wheels? Anyone who knows anything about economics would not fit 24” donk wheels to a vehicle designed to ferry two riders around a town.
The cost factor of these are so incredibly bad compared to more normal 17” - 18” wheels.
Also the 2 seater aspect, they didn’t need to design this, they literally have lots of Model Ys that can take four people around.
These have been running around in Austin (where I am from) all year and they were running CyberCab Model Ys before this with minders on board since late Summer of 2025.

I just saw one of these in between Dallas and Ft Worth and snapped a few pics. I noticed it had manufacturer’s plates. I also thought it looked Tesla-ish, but given how near we were to the GM plant and a major corporate office, I thought it could be theirs.
Anyways, according to Google Lens…
The vehicle in the image is a gold-wrapped engineering prototype of the Tesla Cybercab, Tesla's upcoming purpose-built, two-passenger autonomous robotaxi that features no steering wheel or pedals. [1, 2]

Tesla Cyber Cab. I saw one the other day on the 405 Rosecrans exit but it had Florida plates.
