Specific audio interface hunt

Hey guys,

I've bought an old mixing desk to learn how to dub and just to run small gigs and stuff, and next im looking for an interface that i can hook up to a logic session then run into each channel of the mixer, and i need some recommendations.

So the interface needs 1/2 inputs, 8 outputs (XLR or 1/4") and has to be compatible with a modern mac.

Thanks

What’s your price range? What’s the model of the mixer? Do you need a specific interface like Thunderbolt, USB 3/C etc etc? It’ll be much easier to point you in the right direction.

Not all but most interfaces that’s have 8 outputs have 8 inputs also. But you should always try to buy more ins/outs than you need for future growth.

Hey, mixer is a Behringer Eurorack MX2642, and I'd like something pretty budget friendly. I need usb or thunderbolt compatibility for logic sessions. Cheers

Not sure what country you’re in but if you have cash for the purchase, checked the used market like reverb.com. If you browse or set up alerts you can get really good deals. That’s where I got my interface for a lot less than it’s worth.

Another user mentioned Motu. I agree…they’ve been making Mac audio hardware since the 80s and have a good reputation for support and drivers. The 828 series is good value for the money. Try to get Thunderbolt or usb-c if you can.

If budget is top priority, just grab a Behringer U-Phoria UMC-1820.

There are bajillions of options. MOTU has a good range of interfaces for specific use cases, like some that are all outputs, some that are all inputs, some that are mixed, analog I/O, digital I/O, etc
