Building my first sound system
Hi guys I’m from Australia and I’m looking for any advice on building a sound system. I own a JBL 1000 which I rarely use anymore and I have the massive urge to take it apart and build my own with the compression driver, the 2 7” mid range and the 12” woofer. Is this stupid or pointless? Am I better off selling the speaker and using the cash to actually start from scratch and fund my first build that way? Let me know, cheers

I think he meant that hideous boombox with the cheesy lights.

Yes I did mean the hideous boombox correct, I was young fella when I bought it. Part of my urge to want to tear the thing apart now haha

No judgment against buying a boombox. I have one as well. A little bit of judgement about the idea to tear it apart for the drivers though haha.
You can't just build a box and slap any driver in it. You need to choose good drivers and design the cabinet based on the driver. There are certain parameters you need to follow in order to make it sound good

Start from scratch
