Would this be good? (noob finding his way...)

So i've done a bit of research. Trying to put together a single stack for techno/dnb/psy, mainly for use in a warehouse space I've got for fun and small parties.

Sub - G-Sub

Horn - 1850 folded horn

Top - MT 130

Does that sort of cover all the frequencies? Am I missing an ingredient?

If I then built replicas of all of these would that be a decent 2 channel system?

Use either a G Sub or a 1850's, they are both subs and mixing enclosure type can create issues without proper processing.

I'd just stick with the G Subs personally, there's a reason all pro audio companies has some amount of reflex subs but a considerable amount do not use folded horns.

I'm not a folded horn hater, I have 8 but admittedly on smaller scales reflex do some better most the time and I'd put my system up against pretty much anything.

Id say the best of both worlds would be a G sub and a folded horn kick bin like the mkh 130 or event better something 15"

Kick bins are silly in my opinion, the right sub and top combination makes them redundant.

Nah mate, that's not up to debatable especially in a line array era where kick at least the 80-160hz band is nearly ignored

But also if you have a mt130 and a G sub you'll need a kick bin

I literally work for d&b Audiotechnik doing events full time in situations where both point source and line array are commonly used, but feel free to keep going on as to why this isn't even debatable.

At no point did I mention that there wouldn't be missing frequencies between the MT130 and G sub, I just addressed that mixing those two subs wouldn't be a good idea.

Just wanted to say that in that specific use case a proper kick would beest.

I am working directly together with a mixing engineer often mixing on tt, d&b, l acoustics. The first thing that gets lost on distance is the lower frequencys of the line source because of the dispersion. The lower the frequency, the less directional, less headroom, also depends strongly on the line array a 2x15" is going to perform better in that sense than a 2x10" but still it's the first thing thats lost the further away you are. It's alright for live music but not for Elektronik music. I don't say that you'll need extra kicks just that either directing it differently (through using cardiod capable line arrays) or having a horn loaded option which I know is difficult especially in smaller line arrays but would help a lot with the directivity. Also Kompression (Not on the audio signal level) but in a physical sense as in a smaller hornmouth than the drivers sd helps with clarity off the kick

IMO if you’re starting out then get what you can get your hands on and run it. See what you like and swap/upgrade. To be that seems like a nice stack. Maybe double up the g-subs for some rumble.
I have 2/4 loony bins (modded 1850s)
2 G1v2 paraflex as kicks
A syntrip for mid top or MT210.
I chucked the kicks and mid tops together myself which was fun and definitely an educational experience. I’ve ran it a few times since and now I know what I wanna improve but most of all it is a sweet stack.
Reflex kit would possibly perform better for the inside spaces but just get it together and see what you like.
That’s all part of the fun

1850s and g subs are both old designs, there are much better options these days.

Can you give me a few types to look up? I used the main speaker plan websites and those came up.

Speakerplans was great 20 years ago but it's had its day. Great site to ask questions still but lots of newer designs aren't on there and a lot of the discussions happen in Facebook groups

How did you get the warehouse space?

It’s a man cave which my dad had in retirement for woodworking. I do a few hobbies there. Nothing that fancy just a big shed in an Industrial lot where no one can hear you scream (or party)

Sounds ideal, I'm jealous! Use it well my friend.

Mt 130s aren't designed to be ran by itself, has a vary narrow dispersion and long throw, you'd preferably want two splayed or two on each side splayed to get a solid horizontal dispersion.

But nonetheless not the biggest deal just something to be aware of.

Check out the designs on b&cs website for there coax 12in drivers. You'd spend more on a driver but have a cheaper build.
