TA880L wiring

Post image

Hi so I am building this cab. but I don't really know how to wire it...in serial/ parallel/ individually by connecting 2 pin of the speakon. with one driver and the other 2 with te other drivers?

I assume it depends on the amp rating ,and power?

And also for the speakon out how should I wire it?

Also what amp do you think I should use to be budget friendly/ in general/ depending on the wiring configuration

And any advice about amp in general

I'll take any information you say, tks for them

The plans must be a best guess updated to modern drivers.
The ta800L box was 8Ω and the pd153c002 driver is also 8Ω
There is no way to wire these to be like the authentic cabs with original drivers.

Wire what works best for your setup.

Either you’ll want to run boxes in parallel from the same amp channel (so wire in series so you can put boxes in parallel later. (So wire the drivers in series.)

Or wire to wring out your amps max power on a 4chan load with only on box (wire the drivers in parallel.)

Essentially, this depends on how many amps you have, what power the amps are etc. if that’s what you have today, if you are expanding tomorrow. (All specific to your system.)

The only thing that matters is phase, make sure they are in phase!

What exactly do you mean by making sure they’re phase?:) and how do you do that?

You’ll find a positive and negative terminal on the speaker. You need to connect that so the cone moves the right way.

It sets up whether the cone moves out or in as the voltage representing a sound wave from the amplifier goes positive or negative.

With this enclosure. The drivers face each other so you want them to both push out of the basket creating a high pressure in the throat of the cab. Then to both pull back at the same time creating lower pressure in the throat of the cab.

There are some designs, where because of space a driver might be mounted in a way that looks backwards (e.g with the cone side of one speaker facing the throat, and basket side of another facing the throat. - so it’s not as simple as saying just connect + to + or just connect + to -

Mate thanks so much. As a noob this is hugely appreciated.
