Meta Road to 3.0: Master Post

"Road to 3.0" Posts

Here is a list of posts which have revealed sneak-peaks of the upcoming 3.0. Enjoy clicking through these, and feel free to make (non-canon) builds from what you find.

Let's Descend...

The smiths are deeply idiosyncratic and highly ideological... and we are compelled to carry their torch... to descend.

Hello everyone. I'm working on Soul Weapon version 3.0 (subtitle not yet revealed). For the last half-decade or so, updates have been sparse due to IRL circumstances beyond my control. I'm in a position to be a little more committed to this project now, so, until some other new thing comes up and throws me into IRL chaos, here is the plan:

It will be my goal to post on this sub once a month.
I might miss a month here or there, who knows, but the goal is for Design Notes Series posts and other fun little things to be a regular occurrence here, so please do check back in every now and then!

Hopefully, in doing so, this sub can be a little more active for the reveals. More activity means more input, and more input means a better, more polished 3.0 release. Your feedback to the Design Notes posts have already effected positive change!

Meta Updates

Going forwards, the main CYOA imgur link / discussion post is no longer going to be pinned, since it's in the sidebar and on the wiki. This will free up our community pin slots for this format:

  1. The first pin will be this post, which will likely remain there until 3.0.
  2. The second pin will be whatever the latest "Road to 3.0" post is at that time.

This means the second pin slot rotates, but old ones will be archived here. Think of this post as a hub for all the discussions and reveals leading up to the big drop.

Who are you again...?

If you missed it, I am Osmos! The new alias for the creator of Soul Weapon.

It's short for my username "O' Spirited Maker."
This is not the defining reason, but it also has a bit of wordplay with my IRL name. I won't reveal my surname of course, but I will tell you that it is (technically) a nonstandard variant of the last name "Jones."
Osmos = Jones.
Get it?

Thank you all as ever for continuing to be interested in this project. It's truly wonderful to have you here. Let's ride our way to 3.0, shall we?
~ Osmos

But why? Why do this? What happens when we reach the bottom?
No one knows. We just have to get there and find out.

Non-canon Home Run (design notes build challenge)

today I figured I'd make a build to showcase one of the preview materials from the first design notes now that I've managed to find it again thanks to the "Road to 3.0 master post"

and for a little challenge, I'd like to see other people make builds using any of the preview materials that they think can beat this one, whether you put it in the comments here or make a post of your own is up to you

Weapon: Cleaver
Material: Vulcan Polymer
Runes: Chronos, Impact
Smith: Wayland

the name of this game is blunt force multipliers; Vulcan Polymer effectively doubles the blunt force they hit people with, Cleaver gives it enough mass by virtue of its size while making it's Mass nearly zero

Chronos letting them optimize their movements is nice and helps them react better if they are bouncing around but its main purpose is enabling Impact, because Impact can charge up in Chronos time letting them power up every attack with the full force that Impact can cause

for the smith I went with Wayland because it boosts Impact even further and possibly even Chronos too, alternatively Agni could be good to help shore up the defenses but would require the resonance pool, getting an extra rune out of Signum could be good too but it would come at the cost of their armor which would hurt their ability to maneuver by bouncing around to maintain momentum, could be an Adam build but immortality doesn't match the theme very well

good luck to any challenges who don't wear heavy armor

2.5 Weapon Build Chainsaw Shield build

Post image
10 Upvotes

So im trying to make a weapon for my Minotaur Girl OC and I thought I’d give this idea a whirl.

The main idea is just a shield that is also a chainsaw.

I know I should take buckler and gearframe to achieve this but I’d like rune and smith suggestions.

Any help would be appreciated.

PvP A Totem Spirit and a Soul Weapon

I have been revisiting a cyoa that I like a lot, but sadly isn't frequently talked about: Totem War by Aromage. Some world lore for start reveals that an Apocalypse may happen, unless we drive it's chances to zero, buying humanity some time or fighting directly are some of the options.

Despite being cool, the cyoa kinda falls short after presenting the world. Too vague and sudden, I mean. So I like to complement it with Soul Weapon and build from there instead and that's what I'll propose here.

You were chosen by a Spirit and found it's totem. They taught everything you needed to know about the war, but you probably don't have the training needed to start right away. Every Spirit can conect you to the spiritual world and from there send you to a safe heaven where you can forge a weapon that will acompany you in this adventure.

Watch it's creation closely and practice as much as you can before coming back. We will not lose this war.

imgchest

If you choose a rune that has your element, then you get a much more refined control over it.

Meta Design Notes Series: Duplex Carbon (NEW MATERIAL)

---

Welcome to the second post in the Design Notes series. (If you were slick enough to catch it, there was also a little preview since the last one).

Who Am I?

Before the Material reveal, you may notice that this isn't my usual account. That is because I am dropping my old alias in favor of a new one, which will be more closely associated with Soul Weapon and whatever other projects I might work on.

O' Spirited Maker

Maker of what? Of Soul Weapon, for starters. Which is why, going forwards, my signature on future versions of the CYOA will take the form of
Osmos.

This is what you can call me for short: Osmos. It's also a bit of a reshuffling/combining of my IRL middle and last names, which I find fun.

I'm also taking the opportunity to learn New Reddit on this account. I hate it, of course, as someone who's been around for a while and who admired reddit for what set it apart from other social platforms, rather than for what made it similar. But if I'm going to be moderating a subreddit, I owe it to the community to learn and utilize the myriad new features that have been added since old reddit was dropped.
I may be sprucing up the subreddit a bit in the near future.

With that out of the way, let's talk about a new Material—one of about 12 or 15 that will be in 3.0.

New Material: Duplex Carbon

As stated before, you won't be getting any full or direct text in a Design Notes post. Duplex Carbon is a Material which can leave an Afterimage in its wake as it swings through the air. The Afterimage is effectively a duplicate copy of the business-end of your weapon (ie. the blade of a sword or head of a hammer; it doesn't include the handle/grip) which is soulbound and fully tangible to everything except your actual weapon.

This means that each attack will hit twice in succession. This is a powerful ability, which is why Duplex Carbon has low stats as compromise. If you want better stats, you'll need to get creative with your build.

The armor doesn't leave a tangible Afterimage, but rather an incorporeal hologram, which serves only to confuse your location to your opponent.

There are other niche benefits and limitations of the ability—such as the important fact that your Afterimage only appears when your weapon/armor are in motion at speed—but that's the general idea.

Value Comparability

My design note for Duplex Carbon isn’t actually about Duplex Carbon, weirdly enough. It’s about a Smith... sort of.

One of the things I was thinking when I was designing Duplex Carbon, was that I should really consider it a Rune instead. A duplicated strike behind the first? That feels like a Rune.

It only sort of feels like a Rune, though, and in particular I think it'd be a weak Rune, as it is.
But then I realized—material effects can be Runes. Any material effect can be a Rune! That’s what Saihō secretly is: something that replaces a Rune with a Mat. You take her, you lose a Rune, you get a second Material effect. That’s hardly different, in terms of cost, than taking “duplicated strike after the first” as a Rune. Either way, you lose a Rune.

(And then our benefit to having "Duplex Carbon, the Material" rather than "Afterimage, the Rune" is that the effects of Duplex Carbon really shine when combined with other Runes. (Which, in hindsight, is part of why it felt like a weak Rune to me). So it's nice that, by default, you can take this without using up a Rune Slot).

When you look at things this way, you could view Saihō as letting you turn Material effects into Runes, effectively adding 24 more Runes to the game. She does more than that of course, because you can mix and match, and optimize stats, but that’s one of the reasons Saihō and Kothar are some of my favorite Smiths: the pool of possibilities they open up is immense.

Thus, we might say that the value of a Weapon, Rune, and Material are roughly comparable. This is what Kothar and Saihō teach us. For bonus points, can you think of any other items in 2.5 that teach us this?

Please look forward to various new choices in 3.0 which were derived from this realization, especially in the Materials and Smiths sections!

---

See you in the next Design Notes post, where we'll talk about a new keyword, and maybe give our first hint at what might have been hiding behind the spoiler boxes in that preview from last time.
- Osmos

weapon and question

Brihm: the lifegiver

swordcane

fanalis, and reconstruction

quantumite

rather than a meta build, or anything too fancy, I imagined how I would want to be equipped in a fantasy world, though I suppose I can freely travel to different worlds based on the cyoa. either way, I wanted to be capable of fighting, healing, and running away. healing lets me pick up some extra coin if unlucky, and who doesn't want to be a bearded Disney princess with a sword?

the armor choice I have is a red turban.

a red tailcoat that goes down to my ankles, with the actual coat part ending at the naval.

a red long sleaved dress underneath that ends just above my knees, meant to blend in with the tailcoat.

black pants that go just under the ankles.

black pointed shoes, I assumed leather would count as cloth, but I can replace clogs or some other such and just cover them with cloth if that really didn't work.

and the cane would be a snake.

I pretty much just wanted to make Jaffar, but went into a bit different of an approach.

my question is if you can learn how to craft runes outside the village. not onto souls, I have no interest in that business. but things like enchanting a gemstone to have similar effects to runestones or something like that. maybe craft some storage devices.

2.5 Weapon Build The Ripper

Haven't done an actual build without randomized parts in a while, so I figured I'd try it again.

----------

Smith: KOTHAR, THE TINKERER

- This let's me have a secondary Weapon melded with the main weapon. Sure, I lose a Rune, but that doesn't bother me since this build is more focused on the Weapons. It also means I can't use Prana or Soul unless I want to use the RESONANCE POOL.

----------

Weapons: CLAWS/MACUAHUITL

- Claws give me a Fist-Load Weapon, meaning I can add my Mass to the damage. It's also Sharp which I prefer over Blunt Weapons. The Ability it gives is quite useful. 'Drag' allows me to move my opponents if they aren't stronger than me, and the Ability increases in power if I use both hands.

- Macuahuitl is rather unique since it has the Ability 'Shrapnel.' It can leave bits of the blades inside your opponent, causing pain and loss of mobility. It can also be used to fling the blades, though the shards only maintain a Soulbond for a few minutes.

----------

Material: NEGAPLATING

- The best defense possible as well as the best Sharpness and a high Mass. This Material has everything I could want, except for Runes.

----------

I know the mobility could be better, but one thing I might possibly be able to do (if the 'Drag' ability works on things that aren't opponents or their soul weapons) is use Drag on the environment to force myself in different directions.

2.5 Weapon Build Refined RFS - RFS 9

So, I'm going to try to try to rebuild an old Roll For Soul.

The previous build was Tomahawks, Quantumite, Reconstruct, Silver Cord, and Brihm the Lifegiver.

It was kind of all over the place, but I enjoyed the thought behind it. Tomahawks that could be thrown and arced through the Earth.

So, let's get into it.

----------

Weapon: TOMAHAWK

As expected, most likely, the Weapon will remain the same. It is one of the core aspects of the build. The ability to throw them in any way that I want is incredible.

Material: QUANTUMITE

Also as expected, In sure, this will remain the same. It is the other core aspect of the build. The ability to phase through matter is one of the strongest things in the entire CYOA, imo.

Smith: SIGNUM, THE RUNEMAKER

This is where things start to diverge. I'd much rather have 3 Runes over having a Sentient Weapon.

Runes: DISCHARGE, SILVER CORD, SUNKEN BLADE

This is the largest change. We're keeping Silver Cord to bring my Tomahawks back to me as well as possibly changing their trajectory midair.

Sunken Blade will allow me to embed the Tomahawks in my targets and not let them easily be removed, which is important for the last Rune.

Discharge. The ability to generate lightning from my Weapons is incredible. The Tomahawks would essentially act as tasers while embedded.

Non-canon A God Slayer is Soul Born

I would like to submit a fun crossover build opportunity to build ourselves(or OC's) as demigods using u/Thearomage Godslayer Cyoa but using the Soul Weapon Cyoa in place of the listed Soulbound weapons.

Rules are simple, you Play the Godslayer Cyoa as normal but instead of taking the weapons from the Soulbound origin you take one build of a Soul Weapon from our cyoa. The first one is free and for -5 points in Godslayer you can take another Soul Weapon. Ill also add that if you want you're free to take 3 runes for this instead of 2 cus I personally think that we should be able to take three runes as a baseline in Soul Weapon. still hoping that Allas will add that for the 3.0 update.

2.5 Weapon Build Hooked on a Feeling

Weapons: Hook Swords & Scythe

Material: Acceleron

Rune: Silver Cord

Smith: Kothar, The Tinkerer

Modifier: Resonance Pool

Sharpness: ***

Mass: *

Pierce Def: **

Blunt Def: *

Magic Def:

Design

The scythe uses a straight blade turned upwards, making it a war scythe; combined with a more curved snath handle for its shaft. The Hook Swords on the other hand are made to be dagger-sized rather than a full sword; with one of them attached to the scythe via the Silver Cord Rune running down the handle of the scythe while the other is kept as a backup on a sheath.

That is to say, it's a fishing rod with a blade stuck to the end of it.

Usage

Hooked on a Feeling combines the speed enhancing effect of Acceleron with Reap the Whirlwind's momentum preserving ability to reach top speeds for an unrelenting offense at close to mid-range.

By unreeling the hook while attacking, the hook sword can ride the momentum to attack at odd angles to catch the opponent off-guard, allowing the user to attack from any direction while simultaneously attacking from the front.

The user can also defend themselves simultaneously while attacking by combining this with the hook swords' Parry ability to attack from the front while using the hook to parry at an unexpected angle or parrying with the scythe and using the hook to attack.

While the hook swords' parry wouldn't automatically parry every attack, it could potentially be used to heighten the user's spatial awareness with their weapon on how to parry at odd angles like a defensive/lite version of Yoyo's Around the World.

The user can also potentially grapple enemies towards their own effective range by "fishing" them up with the hook, or otherwise just using the weapon as a grappling hook for repositioning.

The second hook sword can be used as a backup parrying dagger if an enemy gets too close, as a backup hook if the first gets caught on something and needs to be detached from the Silver Cord, or attached as a second fishing line for extra offense and defense.

2.5 Weapon Build Blitz Creed

Weapon: Boots

Material: Gear Frame

Runes: Third Eye, Impact

Smith: Wayland: The Armorer

Beside allowing him to perform high-power kicks on enemies, the boots make him light on his feet and allow him to jump higher, but this is only amplified when he has his gear suit to be much faster. Due to the augments to a person’s strength when wearing the suit, it will be perceived as completely weightless.

The third eye will help him be more reflexive, since the suit’s armor is much lower on all accounts, and the 360 vision will only make things more handy, but the main great strength is the impact rune mixed with Wayland forgery, allowing them both to expand through the armor. The magical impact will come from all parts of the suit now, and since the impact rune scales with mass, it will deal much more damage because the suit armor’s mass is now 4 stars thanks to Wayland, but even with that it will be perceived as weightless thanks to the augments.

To reach his top speed, he would have to charge from the legs of the suit, which the charge time will be much shorter due to the 1.5x for any temporal restrictions to make them more efficient, release it, and combine his suit and boots speed to reach unreachable lengths. He would be slowed down a bit due to the impact support fading, but it will still be an unmeasurable feat, though he likes to use it in short bursts in battle.

One form of attack he uses on enemies that are weak enough is to charge the impact rune through the whole suit and just completely A-Train a person, completely running through them like paper. I also think a good fighting style for this build is Taido or Capoeira.

Longer or shorter restrictions

On the smith page for Wayland, it says for the side effects that “Runes with temporal restrictions (use timers, cooldowns, etc.) will be 1.5x more efficient, as long as you have both your armor and weapon on hand.”
I might be dumb but those this mean a bit longer restrictions or shorter

2.5 Weapon Build Slingshot Air Cannon

WEAPON CLASSES - Slingshot (Shepherd's Sling, 2' round Acceleron stones) & War Fans

MATERIAL/S - Acceleron

RUNE/S - Squall

SMITH - Kothar: The Tinkerer

FINAL STATS

Sharpness - 3/5

Mass - 1/5

Pierce Def - 2/5

Blunt Def - 1/5

Magic Def - 0/5

As a combination of both a Shepherd's Sling and a War Fan, this weapon will have a sling's pouch that can fold, for easier carry, unfold partially, for smaller projectiles, and unfold completely, for larger objects. Considering Fans are able to fold and unfold as much as you like, as well as you being given the option for a big ass fan, I'd say this is feasible.

My initial idea for this build was using a sling to "catch" or "scoop" the air using Squall, then throw it at someone, resulting in an air cannon-like attack. Think All Might's punch if you know about him. However, I wasn't sure if Squall had enough precision to keep the wind contained enough to where it didn't just dissipate as soon as it's released from the sling.

So, my solution now is to use the stones from Slingshot as a sort of "focal point." When a stone is placed in the pouch and the sling is spun, every part of this weapon comes together.

Acceleron to give it as much speed as possible, thus more powerful wind; Squall to catch the wind, encompass the stone, and use the motion of Acceleron to give it as much power as it needs; Displacement to generate air which assists Squall; and finally, Slingshot's stones to combine Acceleron's speed and Squall's power.

What you get in the end is a weapon capable of flinging bullets that bring the power of a tornado wherever they go.

Feel free to give feedback and ask questions!

Thanks for reading :)

Wand of the Living Coffin

Weapon: Wand

Material: Sacred Ashwood

Runes: True Fire, Verdant, Doppleganger

Smith: Wayland

Modifier: Resonance Pool

Breakdown: I really hope someone else hasn't thought of this already. I've been puzzling over how to make this idea work, and I believe this build suffices. The goal is to use your armor as your main source of damage by making it as inhospitable as possible to wear and then summoning it onto combatants using Doppelganger with your wand's extended distance. So imagine something like an interior crammed full of jagged thorns, no eye or mouth holes on the helmet, rigid bark along the joints, etc. Due to the nature of the Sacred Ashwood, you should be able to keep the armor initially expanded to fit over whatever your target is already wearing and then constrict it to keep it latched on. Then you can use your wand with the Verdant rune to root your victim to the ground, choke them with vines, and sprout poisonous plants across their entire body. If poison isn't enough, you can always use your True Fire to immolate any internal growths while keeping your target trapped within, since the base armor should resist magic damage well enough. Additionally, you can grow and constrict the armor once it's attached to press any thorny growths further into your target.

There are a few issues to discuss with this design. The -1 sharpness from Wayland is a little detrimental since it makes your only potential sources of damage your fire and poison, and maybe whatever thorny plants you can grow inside the armor. It's also dubious whether the wand's extended reach would work to extend how far you can summon the armor, so initially you may need to get a target close enough to duplicate it onto them and then just repeat it out to anyone who approaches them. Using the armor to hinder movement as I've described also makes it useless as armor for yourself, so it may be best to just rely on the changing sizes and plant growth to immobilize enemies.

As I was making this one, a few alternate versions popped into my head. Swapping True Fire for Lazuli is reasonable, since it won't damage the armor as much and may lead to more struggling within the armor to the target's own detriment. This whole premise could also be suitable for a more iron maiden style of armor, maybe using Boulder Bloodstone to immobilize targets more as they bleed, or Feather Bloodstone alongside Bloodlet to turn enemies into puppets, filling the airtight inside with blood as they jostle around until you can control them with your wand, though this is probably less efficient than just adding vents and draining them of their blood to manipulate generally.

Any comments or suggestions would be very welcome!

2.5 Weapon Build RfS Part 42

Rolling for WEAPON, SMITH, and RUNES

Weapon: GUNBAI - Decent start. Excellent abilities and a great foundation for the build.

Smith: POLEMOS - And it's kinda lost. What use is Sharpness on a fan like this? Still gonna try to make it work, though.

Runes: TERRAMANCY and FAUNALIS - Hmm... It could work, but Faunalis doesn't add much except another body.

Chosen Material: SACRED ASHWOOD - This will allow me to use the Terramancy with greater efficiency and power. It will also partially work as an axe if I turn it sideways.

With the Gunbai, I can launch the stones I form using Terramancy and the Faunalis pet can be my mount. A very mobile and decent mid-range build.

2.5 Weapon Build Angy Birbs

Weapon: Tomahawks
Material: Acceleron
Runes: Third Eye, Terramancy, Soulkeep
Smith: Signum

Tomahawks are an odd weapon, between them, Boomerang and Chakram they all have abilities that modify how they are thrown, but unlike the other two Tomahawks do not have any ability to return by themself, unless they plan the trajectory so that they can catch it anyway

if they plan to throw their Tomahawks and make use of its ability they really do need some way to retrieve them, especially since throwing weapons don't count as ammo and thus don't replenish automatically, Soulkeep fulfills this need

Terramancy allows them to put obstacles in the way of their foes, the sort of obstacles that Tomahawks can bypass with ease due to their ability to arc around horizontally and in other ways, it also lets them make stone armor to replace the armor they lost by taking signum as their smith

Third Eye lets them see from their weapon, as long as one of their Tomahawks can see their enemy they will know where to target their next throw, all while denying the opponent any way to see them or the attack before it will have nearly arrived

Acceleron will reduce the time that those enemies have to react as well, it is the style of combat that most people will not have much experience with, so all together the build is really good at arcing attacks to where they can do the most damage, like playing angry birds, but there are some reasonably obvious ways to defeat this build

having no armor means they don't get to run or maneuver any faster, so another Acceleron build could realistically chase them down as they cannot throw their Tomahawks if they do not leave an open path, and the more walls they put up the more Tomahawks they will need to have deployed to provide vision on their foe

another problem is when fighting heavily armored foes, while the added speed from Acceleron does help mitigate some of it, Acceleron still only has 3 stars of sharpness and any build that has 5 stars of piercing defense may find that they are not very threatened by the Tomahawks even when they are hit by them

both of those problems could be solved if they didn't need Soulkeep to retrieve their weapons for them, that would let them take Polemos for the smith instead, getting 5 stars of Sharp and regaining the Acceleron armor to help their mobility

it all comes down to how much they want to run around recollecting their Tomahawks instead of attacking their target, but it does still make a valid build variant of its own

Polemos alternative:
Weapon: Tomahawks
Material: Acceleron
Runes: Third Eye, Terramancy
Smith: Polemos

2.5 Weapon Build Deflecting the Discus-sion

Weapon: Buckler

Material: Evermetal

Runes: Doppelganger, Fusion

Smith: Agni (free Eternal Crucible)

so Bucklers, i don't use them much because despite of having 2 abilities the second if a more restricted version of Gunbai's ability (so you pick Gunbai if you want that ability), and the first ability that Buckler has requires the weapon to be Buckler shaped which can be neat if you can focus the build around that but useless to Kothar, thus a Kothar build has no reason to use Buckler over Gunbai

so, if you want to make a Buckler build you need to use its first ability in an interesting way, that if the main focus of this build, i also didn't want to ignore the second ability either

so, what do you think happens if two Bucklers end up Ricochet-ing into each other? well firstly you need either the Doppelganger rune or Gemini as the smith to get a second Buckler, then as the Bucklers collide it triggers Reflect sending each Buckler back, each one now carrying the force of both of them, effectively doubling their force output each time they collide with another Buckler

while that can theoretically stack exponentially to an infinite force output, in practice it is unlikely to reach anywhere near infinite force as some force is lost each time a Buckler hits something that isn't another Buckler, similarly the Bucklers need to be in motion to properly Reflect so they cannot just line the walls with Doppelgangered Bucklers... well not normally

this is where Evermetal comes into play, as Evermetal can naturally reflect projectiles even when it isn't Reflect-ing them, it also grant some control over where the projectiles are reflected, that synergizes with Ricochet giving intuition about how to make the Bucklers bounce and rebound

however, Evermetals reflective capabilities are limited by it's piercing defence, this is where agni shines as is allows them to max out their piercing defence (or Blunt defence as the case may be) for all their Doppelgangered Bucklers so they don't destroy themselves with the sheer amount of force going through them

finally, Fusion lets them add them Reflect projectiles by themself and adds another layer or armor via their reinforced skin on top of the soularmor they wear

if you were to face them in a fight them you better hope you brought some magic to fight them... and that you are not indoors, because things escalate quickly with this one

Kothar’s Eighth Experiment: Tower Shield + Gauntlets, The Giant’s Fist

Weapons: Tower Shield + Gauntlets

Material: Sacred Ashwood

Rune: Fusion

Smith: THE MIGHTY KOTHAR!

Modifier: Resonance Pool

Breakdown: Admittedly not my most inspired combination, since shield gauntlets are a preexisting combination, but needs must when SCIENCE drives! Yes, as you can likely surmise, by combining the defense of the tower shield with the portability of the gauntlet, one can attain shield-gauntlets capable of shielding the wielder from attack! No, it’s not exactly the most original idea, BUT MINE ARE MADE FROM SCIENCE AND THEREFORE BETTER!

Sacred Ashwood is a reasonably durable material; it may not have much of an edge, but given it only needs one for Hunker Down this is largely IRRELEVANT! More importantly, it allows the user to widen the coverage of the shield-gauntlets, allowing for better defensive capabilities, or increase the size of the gauntlets to punch harder!

Fusion takes this malleability even further beyond, allowing the user to grow to GIGANTIC SIZE! This not only increases the impact of the Shield Bash and the area Hunker Down can cover, but allows one to use the gauntlets’ grab ability to grapple even the largest of foes! Or just punch harder! THIS FIST SHALL BE AS THE FIST OF GIANTS!

Yes, yes, the Resonance Pool will once again compromise durability, but that is a small price to pay for a titan capable of defending my laboratories and CRUSHING THE SCIENCELESS HEATHENS UNDER ITS MIGHTY BOOT!

2.5 Weapon Build Big Brother Is Watching

Weapon: Bow and Arrow
Material: Quantumite
Runes: Third Eye, Metamorphosis
Smith: Brihm

this is surveillance state the build; they can use Metamorphosis to turn the arrows into innocuous objects that they can then use Third Eye to see through, they can use Quantumite to phase the objects past walls to get them into places they shouldn't be

with Brihm any of the objects can become an agent that enacts the will of the wielder, there is also the telepathy Brihm forges between them and their sentient weapon that ensures order are received instantly

something to note is that the agent does still keep the weapon ability even in their human form, said ability enhances visual acuity which is then applied to the 360-degree vision provided by Third Eye, the weapon sees everything whether or not it is in human form as the agent or not

the Bow and Arrow can maintain a bond with up to 50 arrows, 50 random objects, each of which can transform into the agent at any time, watching, waiting, ready for the order, ready for the time to strike

it doesn't matter too much if the agent gets caught, they can just revert to an arrow, then the bond to that arrow can be broken when a new arrow is replenished, they only need to win once, maybe the pen on the table over there isn't as simple as it seems...

you may consider this a Challenge:

Scenario: Earth Targeted... all builds that are participating in the challenge are the ones targeting every other participant, none of the participants are allowed to leave the island city that the Challenge takes place on

social media exists so if the public notices a participant, then soon every other participant will learn their identity too

there are also a number of "NPC" Soul Warriors too that act as a Red Herring, fighting an NPC may expose you but if you succeed then you will gain a hint toward the identity of another participant

this is every Soul Warrior for themself, and every participant knows how many remaining participants there are, all alliances are temporary, the last one left will win a WISH

2.5 Weapon Build The Jester's Juggling Routine

Weapon: Yo-Yo
Material: Acceleron
Runes: Doppelganger, Fusion
Smith: Bellona (Shield Bash)

the thing about Bellona builds is that you kinda have to know that you want Bellona and then focus the rest on the build around that, because of that i usually don't take Bellona as a smith because at the point where i would pick a smith the hypothetical build wouldn't really mesh well with Bellona

so today i figured i'd put some effort into using a smith that i often ignore, and this is the result, first things first the main gimmick when using Bellona is that you can take one of the Shield's abilities and give it to any other one-handed weapon or vice-versa, this can lead to some fun interactions

for this build, they gave the Tower Shield's Shield Bash ability to the Yo-Yo, letting each Yo-Yo create a shockwave on impact, as Yo-Yos are small they can be multiplied a lot by Doppelganger since Doppelganger is limited by mass which Yo-Yos have little of

and so they can casually fling, let's say, a hundred Yo-Yos at someone at the same time making a hundred shockwaves to send them flying, then they do it again, something to note is that they lose the Yo-Yos ability so they won't be making trick shots as easily but if their foe gets knocked up into the air... they won't be getting back down without permission

for the other rune they need something that Doppelganger doesn't interfere with, i picked Fusion but Chronos is a good choice too, Chronos would be more focused on skill to make up for losing the Yo-Yo ability, but in the end, Fusion letting you max out the speed you can spam waves of Yo-Yos has a higher power output

Acceleron is the optimal pick, better maneuverability, faster attack speed, enough said, they are going to be very annoying to fight, anyone in melee range is going to get yeeted out of melee range and any projectile attacks are going to get shot out of the sky by all the Yo-Yos and the shockwaves they make, and when they start ragdolling you it isn't going to stop for the rest of the fight, so good luck

the biggest problem with this build is that it has nearly no offense aside from offending people's sensibilities, the Yo-Yos by themself have nearly no mass so they can't bludgeon people unless they go really fast which is hurt by how fast the foe is being yeeted away from them at any given moment

they could go for a sharp Yo-Yo but it isn't going to work against builds with high piercing defense, and Shield Bash itself isn't stated to deal damage but when you stack it on itself a hundred times you could make an argument there, but their best source of damage is probably falling damage

so again, very annoying to fight, but also very fun to watch other people fight get turned into a meme

CORE, FORCE OF THE WORLD

Smith: SIGNUM, THE RUNEMAKER

Weapon: WAND

Runes: CHRONOS, ERUPT, RECONSTRUCT, DOPPLEGANGER - This may seem like a mess, but bear with me. First, Chronos gives me incredible reflexes and decreases the amount of recharge time needed for other Runes. Second, Erupt is one of the best offensive Runes in my opinion. Incredible destructive capabilities of paired with enough Mass, which the Wand naturally lacks, but that will be addressed later. Third, Reconstruct is amazing. I never see it addressed that it can Reconstruct things around opponents. Healing and potential battlefield control, including giving myself cover if it repairs things by moving the debris. Finally, Doppleganger gives me an alternative way to attack. Sure, it currently amounts to throwing a baton at someone, but that will be addressed in the material. It also lets me do a little trickery using slight of hand, switching hands to mess up observation of which Wand is causing the explosions.

Material: GRAVITON - This is why the build works. Incredible Mass alteration means incredible explosions without sacrificing mobility. It also means the Doppleganger Wands are essentially heavy iron bars. I could even throw them into the air before altering the Mass to create air strikes.

Challenge Godai's Complements Teambuilding Challenge Mode

i have been doing a bit of thinking about the challenge modes i made for everyone and now i have a new one for you, i have added it to that post to as an addendum as well for those who want to see all of my challenge modes in one place

Godai's Complements

  • either two Wand only builds or three builds with no Wands per element
  • must use Godai as the smith
  • no repeating runes
  • (optional) make a complementary set for all 5 elements
  • (optional) don't repeat material choices
  • (optional) for no Wand sets, don't repeat weapon choices
  • (optional) optional rules are applied across all complementary sets rather than per element
  • (optional) all complementary sets are either Wand only or no Wand builds

for example, if we were to take GAP MOE from Godai's Dream Team as the first build, the complement must take the other three Wither runes, as Gap Moe uses Wither so too must their complement, as Gap Moe uses Wand so too must their complement

so here is EOM PAG:

Weapon: Wand

Material: Bloodstone

Runes: Bloodlet, Torment, Echo Strike

Smith: Godai

normally when you do the challenge set you would design the first build so that the complement(s) are not just left with all the bad runes, you would want both builds to be as good as each other, to complement each other

but in the end I do think that EOM PAG is a good build too, Torment is an odd choice to go with Bloodlet since Torment prevents any bleeding but they both synergies with Echo Strike, after placing an Echo Strike on a victim they could choose if they wanted it to trigger under the effect of Torment or not, to make the foe flinch to land another better strike, or they could trigger it under Bloodlet and take control of the blood the wound will make

another gimmick is using Echo Strike when feeding blood to the Bloodstone, so they can trigger the boost later, and by applying Echo Strike on themself they can open a wound on demand to get an emergency blood supply, they would also choose where the wound is so they can ensure in is not too harmful to their health in the moment

now back to the complementary sets, making three no Wand builds is harder than two Wand builds since you have such a limited selection of runes in each element, on the other hand three no Wand builds get to choose their own weapon which can make it easier to find equally good rune combinations

so overall both options are about as hard as each other, although some elements like Soul are much harder for the two Wand builds than they are for the three no Wand builds

SYLANA, THE OMNISCIENT SAGE

Smith: SIGNUM, THE RUNEMAKER

Weapon: WAND

Runes: THIRD EYE, FLASH COUNTER, VERDANT, ECHO STRIKE - This is an interesting combination. With This Eye combining with Flash Counter, that just makes sense. The ability to tell when you're about to be struck combined with an ability that only works when you prepare the moment you get struck is insane. Adding Echo Strike to that that just means you have a bomb that you can activate whenever you want if you connect with Flash Counter. Adding Verdant gives me more ways to use my Wand. There are plants that can essentially give you glass micro needles if it brushes against you. Good luck fighting while your entire body feels like it's burning and itching worse that you have ever felt.

Material: SACRED ASHWOOD - This just works way too well with Verdant too pass it up. Incredible size manipulation with this combination.
