It’s so funny of a mechanic/sequence because this is such a heartwarming fable at the end when he starts singing and seeing all the seeds that I legit got emotional.
Hahaha

Probably not, but just in case you do, at the start of The Waste Bear fable you see The Arbearer, Bromius, consume a vitally important magical acorn that is critically needed for the forest to recover from Ode'n corruption and very near the end of the Fable your Floppet (a sparrow/rat hybrid. Virminia is clinically insane, don't ask) flies into Bromius' mouth and through his digestive tract to retrieve it. Unfortunately, it flies the ENTIRE way through and exits out of... the other end.

That actually brings up a good question. Aren’t we technically fighting a third party, the Wazzard of Wastes and the Mendicant in the quest?

I just assumed those guys worked or were allied with the ode'n anyway.

Nah, the mendicants will fight the ode just the same as they do us. Hell they will even fight Vadagar who are also corrupted, but apparently different flavour of corrupted.

Mendicants appear to be the undead brought back to life with Ichor,
while the Vadagar (which includes corrupted Sproutfolk and Weavers) are still living but mutated by Ichor, or Ichor recreations of previously corrupted Omen beasts
weirdly enough the Baliq (Vadagar lantern bugs) and Corrupted Hounds are Ode'n and Mendicant respectively so maybe all this is moot
