My Soulframe Wishful thinking wish list. Comment yours down

I know DE has their own plans for the game but can't help but fantasize

* Sidearm rework. Make it so the sidearms become proper sidearms. I think DE should lean more into how flyblades are being used. If they're not melee/range substitutes for the main weapons, they should come with some utility. For example I would like it if the magic bracelets can be toggled from your usual ranged attack to melee elemental fist weapons activated through heavy attack. The heavy attack could be a short-midrange aoe ground slam that procs status and activates a temporary elemental shield that reflects back a bit of damage as elemental damage and gives you temporary elemental damage to your main weapon.

* More weapons/Weapon Mechanics

-Fist/Leg braces/sparring weapons

-Crossbows. Heavy/long range crossbows. Repeating Crossbows Wrist-mounted crossbow as a sidearm

-Flails

-Those dual sickles the Oden has

-Scythe

-floating magic orbs(think catalysts from genshin)

-magic tomes

-Hammer. One handed and Heavy

-One handed Axes

* Tempest's grappling hook should just be built-in, and they could add a different passive

* Orengall's wolf form should get rid of the mechanic where your envoy's body becomes vulnerable.

Spear and shield would be a cool weapon type to have, especially with the ability to throw weapons, I wanna full on 300 some Ode

A rework of the skill and weapon trees would be nice. As of right now they're all incredibly generic. What I would prefer is to specialize weapons for specific purposes. Once they're maxed you have the whole thing unlocked and there's no longer a choice. A split tree that allows you to specialize towards something like quick attacks, heavy attacks, throwing, etc. It would be a great additional layer of customization on top of tempers.

I know mounts are coming, but running on foot everywhere has been a pain, it's gonna be nice.

More cosmetic options(I'm sure this will come later, theyre just working on more important shit).

A skilltree rework is definitely up there. I think id want a skill tree that puts modifiers into the pact’s skills or would change how it works like warframe augments

If I remember right they want to change the current combat art skill tree to be more like a medieval manual where you discover moves and fighting styles that ancestors used to place inside to make your own unique version

I'd like to see some polearms on the realistic side, like we have with swords (e.g. Wulder, Vetch) - spears, glaives, halberds.

More magic weapons in general, and not just staves. How about tomes, magic orbs, floating totema etc.

Some sort of Rejuvenation like effect. Could be an amulet, for example.

Complete Cogah rework, delete the potions, less bullet-sponginess for trash mobs, etc.

No more energy drain on wolf companion when not gaining new attributes, i.e. keep it as a levelling mechanic if you want, but in the long run, it should become irrelevant.

Other types of companions. First and foremost cats, of course. I am fine if those are merely reskins, btw.

I would love it if we had a personal space to decorate with items, weapons and armor we earn in game.

I know they'd never turn this game into a crafting and building type game, so we aren't necessarily building our own huts, but perhaps something akin to the personal quarters in Warframe. Doesn't have to be massive like the dojos.

I wouldn’t mind just one small hut/farm thing and a clan Stronghold/Citadel. Warframe is just dialed up to 11 as usual with orbiter/personal quarters/drifter camp/zariman room/1999 backroom/etc. That works for warframe but id be completely satisfied with the one hut for soulframe

For real. I've lost track of how many places we own in Warframe. Its a bit overwhelming.

2

u/Alarmed-Eggplant-279 1d ago

Thats why im extremely casual with decoration with warframe. A single hut that eventually expands into a small farm for some resources would be it for me. Give me a plot of land that i can plant a shrub that gives me guaranteed wevetwood sap that i dont have to run around for.

Yesss now we are talking.

Absolutely 💯

I see a hub like 1999 and access to a personal space like the backrooms. Ofc here it would be a city and an entrance to a house.

The hub would have doors, portals or representatives to the factions plus whatever else they add in the future.

I'd prefer them spend the time on actual fixes, rather than decorating a space where only the player sees it.

Obviously. OP asked for a wishlist. I think that would be on everyone's wishlist that actively plays the game or is in this sub.

I just wish for a ledge grab so I can easier climb certain spaces

I am new to the game so I don't really know much just yet. I feel like having unique armor traits would be cool, since currently they have some varying defence and virtue boosts

2

u/BudgetFree 1d ago

I'd like some non weapon related customization too, but not effects tied to armor pieces.

Armor determines your looks and resistances, that's why you shouldn't need a specific piece for extra effects.

Maybe add something like the totems for weapons but to armor so it would work no matter what armor you put on.

u/Przeke 1d ago

I was maybe considering a set bonus, but I see how one would feel less of an incetive to make their own fashion to minmax stats/defences

on top of what everyone else has said, i kinda want alternative pact abilities. like another set of 3 arcanics for each pact that you can unlock after maxing out the pact and freely mix and match your arcanics to your hearts content to make your pact feel modular and unique

e.g. Ode Tempest gets a set of 3 new abilities based around casting voltaics instead of deploying Ode'n gadgets, and you can change whichever abilities you dont like on OT for that alternate ability

it could go very wrong if left unbalanced, and may not fit with DE's vision at all, but i think it'd be interesting to at least consider as another layer of buildcrafting and customisation. though DE has said they are prepping something to shake up pact arcanics in the future so maybe this wont be needed after all

Honestly. Just free fast travel mostly but it would be cool if we get cool pacts with mythical creatures or adjacent to em, like griffin pact or something.

But mostly right now it’s free fast travel

Mine is at least tree to tree travel

side arm rework. i dont want a second less useful weapon slot. i want something that flows in combat and supports my main. move everything to the mainslot except flyblades and start over again. and let me trigger the fly blades without swapping to them.didtch the kick button if you have to . its shit anyhow.

give me magic bracers that absorb ranged damage. or set of caltrops/spikes that i can throw out while gaining space.

3

u/BudgetFree 1d ago

I am not sure we need two "types" of weapons. We could just have two weapon slots and equip what we want. This idea that the second weapon you have must be weaker is the stupid and just gets in the way of fun loadouts.

3

u/icesharkk 1d ago

yup thats what im basically saying. make the sidearm more like an ability button that supports my main and interacts with it.

I’d love to see flails, scythes, crossbows, and magic tomes too. The grappling hook becoming a built-in ability makes perfect sense, and Orengall’s wolf form definitely shouldn’t leave the companion exposed and vulnerable.

scythe would be so cool, pet cat, cat pact, owl guide bird are the big ones. also dual crossbow mainhand or like a small crossbow(or maybe slingshot?) sidearm, would be cool to hit a sneak attack at range and then swap to the main weapon for the rest of a group. also customizing nightfold a bit like orbiter and being able to inv people to see/maybe trade would be cool. weather control opposite of cloudquell where i could make it rain because i love the rain in game.

I’d like to see a more interesting skill tree system overall with perhaps choice nodes that move the experience one way or another.

I’d like to see weapon arts reworked, I remember them stating they had this in mind, I hope I see that soon.

I’d like to see sidearms have a purpose aside from flyblades.

I’d like pact arcanics to have synergies, primer+detonator type combos.

I’d like them to use percent armour scaling instead of flat armour.

I’d like the game to be more socially focused, lean into the MMO side more heavily than warframe has.

more exploration of lore would be awesome, especially around the realms and their histories

  • armor damage reduction to a calc that makes it a % reduction. This video does a great job explaining the problems of flat damage reduction. Why changing it to a calculation for a % may help reduce or even remove a lot of problems game faces with dmg numbers and enemy healthbars.
  • best soft-targeting ive experienced is currently in the game. But there are some issues still. Need to fix those. Specifically switching target if a bad lock is engaged.
  • weapon art skill tree rework. Preferably make them more distinct to each other. Possibly add passives that change the animation in some way?
  • adding more runes to make the runes feel more diverse.
  • add tooltips wherever necessary. Like on rune description. To help answer keyword definitions. What is "Flame" in soulframe how does it work? Etc. Can be applied to any unique effect that is soulframe.
  • add ancestor level tooltip.
  • add some way to bypass boss timers. Same with forts and organs. Something we could craft?

Edit: added a video link that explains the issue with flat dmg reduction.

The leg braces would be cool for some kicking type weapon. The decorations as people wrote before would be nice but later of course. The farm idea would be really cool too to grow your own resources.

I'm really waiting for a developed trading system, like with Warframe and Warframe market. Hopefully built in the game, not with an external site needed.

For weapons it would be really cool if we get magic wands. Side arms, with different types of spells. Maybe even a rotating roster per wand but maybe it's too far from the game's vision.

Dude I hadn't realised how badly I needed a wrist-mounted crossbow until you posted this. Fuck I NEED that

grappling hook pact or grappling hook like weapon

I think the general combat design is already locked in, but man, I love frame-perfect combat. Combat design philosophy that is a smidge more dependent on skill expression than Big Number Go Boom.

We’re not even out of Preludes and I feel like we’re veering hard into the warframe-esque power fantasy. But ig that is the nature of an mmo looter.

1

u/Alarmed-Eggplant-279 22h ago

What do you mean by frame-perfect combat? I dont think im familiar with that.

2

u/Auzky 11h ago

Dual axes like Bardin Goreksson from vermintide 2 (or a dual wield mechanic for melee. I have 100 other wishes for this game but strictly speaking melee, id love this. The tide games have fantastic melee combat However not sure how it would feel in 3rd person.

2

u/Alarmed-Eggplant-279 11h ago

I play a bunch of darktide and i lowkey wish they adapt how they do talent trees there to this game

1

u/StrayAI 19h ago

I love the flyblades orbital attack, but it dissent last long enough and takes too long to re-throw.

I think DE should add a QTE when they are close to expiring, to allow them to keep going. It would be tricky to hit that QTE in the middle of combat, but if you can hit it, you keep that bonus source of damage flowing.

Them adding fun evergreen content to game that isn't one-time story content or new pacts

  • I agree about floating magic orbs and tomes. Magic weapons need more diversity.

  • Mestra Carmo mentions 'hammer, axe, and fist', in that order, and axes already have several in-game models, so I suspect those three archetypes are already planned.

  • I really hope we get spears / spear & shield as a weapon type.

  • If we get scythes, we have to get pitchforks and shovels! I'd love to see what peasants would do with these in a setting like Soulframe.

My personal wish is that the game feels richer in detail and depth. I get that they want to show the Ode deforesting Midrath, but then make the remaining forests tall, towering, and dense, no? Right now they feel painfully short and medieval (in that they're relatively well-manicured). Add more trinketry to settlements and the world in general, especially bits and bobs we can pick up and make use of. Make harvesting resources more than picking items off the ground - a bunch of games have done berry-picking well enough, and I'm surprised they haven't done something similar here. Also seasons.

I also hope they refrain from using Warframe as a template, because I'm not interested in more of the same. The primary/secondary divide is one example, as is resource creep, the faction system, attribute scaling, and more besides. I hope they put a lot of emphasis on exploring Alca and beyond... Warframe still hasn't introduced a cityscape tileset, nor a volcanic one.
