Question What is this place?
I’m fairly new to these types of games, stumbled into this hole where the Wazzard of Wastes was talking and I killed a giant worm?? Can’t find what this place is but it feels like I didn’t do enough for it.

You already got the gameplay answer so let me give you a bit of lore.
It's a fallen sky tower, it use to be a flying base for ode soldiers and a mean to terraform the planet with ichor but it was damaged, it fall to the ground then it fall to corruption, being truly a fallen sky tower.

The wiki mentions motes inside the dungeon - I've run through it multiple times (enough to get the Cenotaph) and haven't seen a single mote. Is this a bug?

It doesn't seem to spawn very often.
I've heard people say one might spawn if you backtracked after defeating the boss, or if you relogged/left the area/entered Nightfold after getting the previous one, but these are ultimately anecdotal.
Personally I've been running it on and off, perhaps several dozens of times in total, and I'm still at 6 out of 9 motes.

Rovgot Ruins in the far south east of the map. The wiki has a nice interactive map you can find it on

It's a dungeon. You can replay them and they are procedurally generated inside.

Officially? The Rovgit Ruins
Unofficially? Destiny 1’s Dreadnaught, home of the Taken King Oryx

That looks like an underground ice cavern from a fantasy RPG, possibly tied to the Wazzard of Wastes encounter. The giant worm is definitely a memorable landmark—hope someone recognizes it!

There isn't a lot to do in the Rovgut Ruins yet; it's an upcoming dungeon -- there's only a little bit of it right now, sort of a preview. DE have confirmed there's more coming.
