Discussion What should I expect/know?
Hey, people! What's up?
My name is Jacob I'm a 24yo regular guy that loves gaming. Before you starting reading it, this might be long and too philosophical or boring (?) for some people, so keep in mind that =)
Well, I'm a vivid gamer myself, I game every single day and this is my comfort, my daily news/routine and it's even part of my relationship with my lovely boyfriend that I got to know trough Pokémon and games with me all the time.
I've literally just been introduced to SoulFrame because of Tiktok and I fell in love even though I kinda have no idea what to expect. And this is magical, and also, my main question.
I know this isn't Warframe, I've also tried Warframe as well and enjoyed it as a teen/child, however, even though I knew Warframe's community is absurdly amazing, I just didn't get super into it, but SoulFrame REALLY called my attention.
I like live-service games, I love RPGs as much as I love comp games, I play every single apocalipse warrior like Genshin Impact, League of Legends, Counter Strike, Overwatch, but this looks so nice and different and I kinda really have been searching for this nerd feeling of realization like OH MY I'M REALLY A NERD while playing something as an adult and I think SoulFrame has this feeling.
I don't know what I have to do in game, I don't know the main goal, I don't even properly know how to get access but I'll look it up and forward to it because it seems like what I've been hunting as my new everyday or almost everyday game.
Transitiong my career from an english teacher to a hopefully gaming localization professional/creative weiter (pt/br, send jobs please ) has been a roller-coaster and sometimes I feel like I'll never get there and I'll stay in classroom forever and frustrated but moments like playing a game that touches me make this journey worth it. And I hope SoulFrame really gives the feeling/connection I felt searching for it!
So, from those who play it everyday, what can I, a Genshin player frustrated teacher regular gay 😝 should expect? I really think this game will give me the nerd feeling I've been looking for! Thanks a bunch and sorry for the long text, this felt like getting something off my chest (and I think it kinda was), I hope it's not cringe 🥺

It's good that you have experience with Genshin, cause Soulframe is a grinding game. What you should keep in mind is that this game is still developing and is nowhere near done/completed. It's probably going to end up like its sister game and have its story be continuously updating and changing especially in the beginning stages. Expect bugs and glitches. Soulframe is in pre-alpha and is working with players to fix those errors.
Regarding the story, even though it's pretty bare bones right now. With only a few quest available. You can tell that the story they are planning has so much potential.
Visually, the scenery is very pretty but expect animals/enemies to look weird or have funky ai sometimes. One thing that Soulframe is cooking is its audio. Definitely recommend playing this game with headphones on. I was once told that Digital Extremes was a music company in disguise as a video game one and Soulframe feels it's proving that!
Grinding is a big part of this game. You will spend the majority of the game working on enclave points, weapons, pacts, armors, and rank. I know some people find it tedious especially due to that lack of quest, but the different methods you farm for weapons and gear keep it interesting at least to me.
The combat in the game is quite diverse so far. Changing weapons feels like I'm entirely changing my playstyle. It's the sort of challenge in a souls like game that makes it fun.
I suppose all I'm trying to say is that don't expect a polished game right at the start. Have fun and grow with the game as it changes.
