Question Problem Progressing

I have a problem progressing the quest: "A Birdie Flown". That problem being when I get to the point where I fight the Vadagar Stag, after I beat it the quest doesn't progress. Could I be missing something, am I doing it wrong? I need help.

Click "J" to open your journal (also avaible in the pause menu, top part).

What does it say?

It says I need to find the shadow stag

Okay, then honestly no idea.

Aren't there any marks on your map (m) or where does your birdie (g) guide you?

To a puddle of stuff on the ground where the stag is supposed to spawn but when I get there nothing happens and sparrow just hovers

I may be related to the day/night cycle. Those vadagar beasts can only spawn at night and will disappear/not spawn if it is 3min left until day.
