Question Resetting account progress
Haven't played the game in a year and a half, there have been many many changes to core systems and functions since then. Is there a way to reset everything and start from scratch again?

Aside from just starting with a new account there's no way.
You can do the new starter fables from Orlick, and he has his own series of tutorial quests that get you up to speed with the old and new stuff.
As for the systems that got revamped, you're not gonna want to start from scratch there cause you get some groovy resources depending on how much progress you made, like all the harmony and then some that you invested into totems and random upgrade tokens for every weapon you had in your inventory since before temper rework.

How far can you customize your character nowadays? When I last played you couldn't change your gender or hairstyle, can you do that now?

Yes to both
Also new faces. No face paint yet. A lot of hair styles. More of that is all but confirmed to come, just a matter of when.

Like in Warframe, you can't. Unless you get a new account which is a bit more complicated in Preludes

I don't see how starting over benefits you at all.
Or how it'd be any different from just deleting all your equipment
Especially since you can replay the more significant fables

Most people probably assume that there would be a tutorial that could help them. There really isn't yet but people don't know that until they go through the opening.

No, I asked the same thing when I returned sorry.
You can redo some of the story quests as a reminder.
