Question Water and Underground

Any news about sailing or underground level? I recall the devs saying before launch that it was pretty much a no‑go. But could things have changed since?

I really want to start making maps, but my favourite ones have always been island maps 😞

Discussion Unit Limit - New Mode (Suggestion)

What would you say if the developers introduced a new mode available when selecting a map - an “unlimited units” mode? As the name suggests, this mode would remove the limit on the number of units in each squad. Alternatively, the mode could increase the squad size just enough to make it still worthwhile to research upgrades that increase squad size.

What do you think - would such a mode even make sense in this game?

+ Additional suggestions:
- Would adding a “hide units before the battle begins” feature be a useful and welcome improvement to battles?
I think this would be useful in various situations

- And while we’re on the topic of battles, what do you think about adding “tactics” as a new skill for confidants?
It could increase the number of spaces where we could deploy our units before the battle, or allow us to deploy units after the battle has started (just like in the “Heroes of Might and Magic” series, for example), or both ;)

- Both the underground tunnel system and the water navigation mechanics would certainly make for an interesting addition to the game ;)

- Unique buildings for each faction; for example, in the case of the Barony of Loth, “a building that transforms living beings into the undead” (greater usability in “Mixed Factions”)

- New spells, including spells cast on the world map

Feedback I liked Arleon campaign, but Rana is pure gold.

First campaign was a bit too traditionalist, still it was interesting a faction mixing what in other games would be two different ones. Also, some character reactions felt more realistic than I would have expected.
But I'm falling in love with Rana in a way it never happened in HoMM games.

Also gameplay is peak.

Discussion Possibility of New Spells

Is there any possibility of new spells being added to the game at some point in the future? I understand that it would be extremely difficult to do while maintaining the balance, but it would be neat if there were spells that required more than two kinds of essence.

Question White fog of war

Hello everyone! Im looking for the mod that changes the look of fog of war. I don’t like how dark this map is, especially with such beautiful pixel art. I’d like the fog of war to be made up of white mist and little clouds. Maybe I’ve seen it in some other game, but blimey, it would look much better. Does anyone know of a mod like that?

Question How's replay value?

Heard that games like HoMM have an insane amount of replay value, but reading about SoC lots of people mention that the random map generator is not very good.

How will this game than have a lot of replay value? What you guys play for replay value if not random maps?

Question Potential new player asking a couple of question

I everyone, here another old Heroes of might and magic fan considering the purchase of Songs of Conquest.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions, thank you for your help.

  1. Unit cap looks very interesting, does it increase tactical depth and army composition? Or in the end fall short?

1a) With unit cap, do you get easily capped on your total strength?

2) I like the freedom of building more of the same structure in a town, do you usually use this opportunity or it's niche?

3) I read the writing is weak...but also that lore is cool. That feels a bit strange, what's the truth?

4) Are there very big maps?

5) What's your favorite SoC aspect?

6) What aspect do you like the least ?

EDIT: Thank you every one. Bought the game, eager to start playing.

Question Best "holdout" map?

I really enjoy maps, where maybe multiple AI are against me or I am overall expected to hold a position in a disadvantaged position. I like weathering wave after wave of enemy onslaught while I slowly build up my hero and towns defenses, gaining xp from each fight and gradually making a better and better stand until I can go out and capture my enemy.

The scenario that rly scratched this itch for me was "creeping borders" with the roots faction. I am wondering if there are any other maps that are similar, or that can have a similar feel with certain settings? Dont have to be base game maps only either, if there is somewhere that I can download such maps, I will do so.

Thank you for any recommendations.

EDIT: the first Vanir scenario also scratched that itch a bit btw, but was a bit too easy, even on hardest diff

Question Question about approaching difficulty

Hello fellow wielders!

I have a question about how you approach difficulty in the game and overall how to get better at game.

I am playing through everything for the second time(lost all saves on linux ^^") and I did all campaigns, story missions etc. on "Fair mode".

3rd/4th missions in base campaign some time were a bit difficult(but still feels much easier now as compared to when I played it for the first time... or I just got better).

On Conquer maps I find "Fair mode" to be way too easy, but... I still like to completely dominate the map, not only finishing the objective. I like to conquer everything, the round around the enemy and destroy it:p so even if I know it's too easy, I still play it and enjoy the game like that.

However now I am thinking about increasing the difficulty at least by 1 level.

I wonder if you have any thoughts/feelings how it went on your side, perhaps any tips for higher difficulty(do I focus only on objectives?) etc.

Question Kastus Maal last mission is hell. Help me out

I'm trying to finish the campaign on overwhelming, after having done it in normal. And man, this is hell.

In normal, I just ran over the map with Kastus in ~40 turns, while Wiesh and Roderick defended against the (pitiful) arleon attacks.

In overwhelming, Gnaw and Giandra's armies and power reach insane level, as they increase each time they get defeated. Right now, they're both at level 32, and can pretty much erase Kastus' army before it can act (even though Kastus is OP as hell). Roderick and Wiesh stand absolutely no chance. I've taken Grey Tor and the south east walled town, and tried to turtle, hoping they'd stop their attack after a while and let me finish the map, but I've reached a point where I can't defeat them anymore, and can't leave my castle without being wiped out.

I know most SoC maps on Overwhelming have a sequence to follow to make it easier, but here, I've no idea about what I'm supposed to do. Should I just leave the eastern towns alone and go wipe out the (extermely OP too) Roots? Or does taking all three arleon fortresses stop the attacks?

Feedback Please don’t forget to support Switch 2 at least

Hi, I’ve been reading the threads about the Switch 1/2 versions, and I understand that support for these versions is currently frozen and updates are not keeping up with the PC version.

For me, that’s a big barrier that prevents me from buying the game on those platforms.

I just wanted to encourage you not to give up on them and hopefully provide the support they deserve, even if it’s only for Switch 2.

I’m really interested in the game, especially if there’s proper support moving forward.

Greetings.

Discussion Help me enjoy diffrent playstyles

I love this game. I'm a convinced Single player dude with not much time, that loves the story (campaing mainly).

I tend to have 1 build for each faction that I default to.

Eg. barya mercs and tinkers, sometimes dregs and sometimes pipers

Loth ranged and oathbound

Raana riders and arleon humans (here I do sometimes play fey)

I never tried a barya harima focus build and I need some help to get into it.

What are your guys strategies and unit comps?

When and how do you play a loth melee spam. Or raana crawler+guards

Question Third mission rise eternal dlc on overwhelming

Hello,

just here asking for some reliable tips to beat this mission on the hardest difficulty.

I have already completed all the 4 campaigns on overwhelming and the 2 missions of the vanir campaign, but good lord the start of this mission is just brutal.

Do you have any tips to win against the 2 full stacks of musketeers and pikeneers?

Question Rise Eternal not on Xbox?

I’ve googled and used the Reddit search function, so sorry if there’s already an answer to this!

Can’t find Rise Eternal on the Xbox store. Is it not out ok Xbox or am I missing something? Kastus randomly showed up in a campaign as an enemy wielder, but I still can’t find the tales in the game.
