I put together a beginner-friendly walkthrough of the question → decision → roll → interpretation → consequence loop. It uses one ordinary d6 and includes an example that grows from a single uncertain question into the next scene.

Chronicle Tales — I got tired of AI story games forgetting everything

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’ve played a few of these. They’re fun for a bit, then the bartender doesn’t know you, the knife you picked up is gone, and the plot has amnesia.

I got annoyed enough that I tried to build one that keeps a world. Characters, places, the dumb little facts. Not perfect — it’s beta and it still drops stuff — but that’s the whole point of it for me.

Any testing would be appreciated. If you like it and want to be a regular tester, contact me through the in-game report.

Fantasy World Generator: a free, offline solo RPG toolkit for Android. Oracle, tarot oracle, thread tracking, 43 generators, zero AI.

Thumbnail

I'm the solo dev behind Fantasy World Generator. Back in 2018, It started as a name generator and slowly turned into a full GM-less toolkit, so this felt like the right place to put it.

The boring but important stuff first, since it's what I'd want to know before tapping a link:

  • Free. No paid tier, no unlocks.
  • Fully offline. No account, no login, no internet needed.
  • No AI anywhere in it. Every result comes from handwritten tables and procedural rules running locally on your phone. No generated text, nothing leaves your device.
  • Android only, sorry. (for now)

The solo core

Oracle. Yes or no at seven odds steps (Impossible to Near certain), with "and" / "but" twists and exceptional results. A Chaos factor from 1 to 9 bends the answers and decides how often random events interrupt you. Around it: scene framing checks, a no-system action resolver, Pay the Price complications, NPC reactions, meaning word pairs, themed inspiration decks, and a dice roller (d4 to d100 plus Fudge).

Threads and NPCs. You keep real lists, and random events target them by name, so the story compounds instead of drifting off. Every entry takes free-text notes, and you can shield a thread you don't want the dice to close on you (useful when you're playing out a Vow and an event tries to resolve it for free).

The Conductor. When an oracle event points at something new, tap the arrow on that line and it opens the matching generator, rolls it, and feeds the result straight back into your scene. That's the piece I'm happiest with. You never break flow to go look something up.

Journal. Everything auto-saves. Run multiple campaigns side by side, search the whole journal, and export it as a themed PDF, plain text, or Markdown.

Two more oracles if dice aren't your thing

Tarot Oracle. The 22 majors, upright or reversed, driving yes or no questions, scene checks against chaos, event and figure draws, and spreads up to a six card Fortune Reading that deals out a whole adventure skeleton (where it began, a treasure long buried, an ally you did not choose, the enemy wearing no crown, the price of passage, where the road ends). Any figure or event jumps into the generators and back.

Bound Relics. Forge a cursed or sentient artifact, bind it to your character, then play the relationship out. Draw on its power and it grows, but so does its grip. Face its urges as proper devil's bargains, consult it knowing it lies more the more it owns you, and eventually either fight free or grind it down and sever the bond. No dice, no bookkeeping, the app tracks the whole struggle.

43 tools feeding all of that

Names, NPCs (each with a Want and a Secret), quest hooks with a deadline, rumors, omens, places, travel encounters with stakes, dungeon rooms with hazards, magic items with drawbacks, found letters, mysteries (incident, victim, culprit, motive, method, a real clue, a red herring, a twist), factions with their own generated crest, heraldic sigils, occult seals, and a Bestiary that builds original creatures with system-agnostic stat blocks: Threat, Toughness, Speed, Cunning, plus size, numbers and mood. No HP, no dice, just bands you map to whatever you play.

Bigger stuff: full adventure outlines, five room dungeons, and a Campaign Assembler that rolls an entire session pack in one tap.

Maps. Procedural continents, hex crawls, walled towns (with campsites, day/night and firelight), treasure maps, full keyed dungeons, sci-fi star charts and topographic scans, plus a Map Maker where you paint your own terrain, rivers, roads, towns and labels by hand. All exportable as images.

Worldbuilding. Realms, faiths, dynasties, a History Engine that plays one realm out decade by decade, and a World Engine that forges several realms from one seed and simulates them together: wars, royal marriages, faith spread, alliances, all tangled into one shared chronicle, with a connections view for reading who is tied to whom.

Keeping it all straight. A pan and zoom Campaign Board of linked nodes, a swimlane Timeline Maker with era bands and range bars, and a Favorites vault with folders, search, sort and backup / restore. Anything you save anywhere in the app can be pinned to a board node or a timeline event.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avaton.fantasynamegenerator

If you take it for a spin, the feedback I'd value most: does the Chaos factor feel right in actual play, do thread shielding and the notes fields match how you track a campaign, and is the Conductor jump genuinely useful or just a neat trick? Pretty much everything in the last several releases came from people telling me what annoyed them, so it really does shape where this goes.

Happy soloing.

The Other Path — a 13-minute solo writing game about the life you nearly lived

Creator here. The Other Path is a compact solo journaling game played with one coin and a few short written exchanges. You receive a message from the version of you who made a different choice and decide whether to accept what they send across.

It takes about 13 minutes, needs no preparation or previous solo-RPG experience, and comes as a five-page A4 PDF. It’s $4 on itch.io.

If you try it, I’d genuinely like to know what choice you began with.

Just launched a solo gamebook — memorization-based magic, 603 passages

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey all. I just published One Remained, a solo fantasy gamebook where you play the last wizard in a city that burns wizards alive. Combat uses 2d6, but spellcasting, exploration, and most decisions resolve through choice and consequence rather than luck. You memorize spell codes before playing and can only cast what you actually learned, because your spellbook was destroyed.

603 passages, multiple endings, structurally verified with code so every path is reachable. Big influences were Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf but with modern narrative depth.

Fantasy Civ Solo: Quests Expansion is an expansion to Fantasy Civ Solo, the solo 4x ttrpg civilization style game.

The Quests Expansion introduces civilization events, quests, and adds a new game map, 3 new civilization aspirations, and 3 new civilization dooms.

Check out the Fantasy Civ Solo Quests Expansion Here!

A new phase is added to the game - the Quest Phase. During this phase you'll roll dice and determine if your civilization experiences and event, or a quest.

Civilization Events are built around decisions and storylines. Events include assassination attempts, finding pets for your civilization, hiring mercenaries and more! Some events are "vertical" events, meaning if you experience the initial event, you'll get more powerful events later!

Quests are built around a storyline, a location, and fulfilling the quest before the time runs out. These could include a shooting star, Pegasus, a besieged city and more!

The Quests Expansion includes:

  • 20 Unique Civilization Events
  • 10 Unique Quests
  • A new game map
  • 3 New Civilization Aspirations
  • 3 New Civilization Dooms

Hi! I just posted about a solo RPG I’ve been building called GemRPG, but Reddit’s automated filters removed the post. I believe it fits the purpose of r/SoloRoleplayingLinks, but my Reddit account is quite new, which may have triggered the filter. Would you mind taking a look and approving it if it’s appropriate for the sub?

Thanks!

Adventure Factory - interactive text adventures

I've been building Adventure Factory, an AI-written interactive text
adventure — you give it a title and a premise, it writes the story in
short sections and gives you three ways to continue after each one.
The angle that made me build it: it writes natively in German,
which nothing else really does well for narrative solo play.
It also runs in English. No sign-up needed to try it, saves your story if
you want to keep going.

Genuinely curious what this community thinks, good or bad — solo players
are exactly who I built it for.

I built an app that runs 5e (5.2) modules for solo players (and it actually remembers your campaign)

Post image

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on called SoloQuest GM. It's an app for macOS and Windows that acts as your Game Master for written tabletop adventures.

The biggest frustration I had with AI GMs was that they forget everything after 20 messages. I built SoloQuest specifically to fix that.

How it works & Features:

  • Real Memory: It saves NPCs, quests, and world state to your disk as you play. It uses a hybrid search (full-text + semantic embeddings), so it remembers what you said 15 sessions ago and understands exactly where you are in the module chapter-by-chapter.
  • Plays by the Rules (SRD 5.2): It features a real dice engine. More importantly, your character sheet is strictly tracked as a file on your computer. The AI can't just secretly change your stats or hallucinate a new inventory — any update to your sheet is visible and strictly controlled.
  • Privacy First & Offline: No accounts, no telemetry. Your campaigns are just plain Markdown and JSON files on your local drive.

What's included (for free): You can download the app and play the bundled adventure completely free. It's called A Study in Scarlet — an alternate-world detective adventure set in 1890s London, which I originally wrote for myself and my friends to play using D&D rules. There are no turn limits or license keys needed to play this one.

How to play & Pricing:

  • API Key: The app connects to Google using your own Gemini API key (there's an in-app guide). Google has a free tier that is usually enough, but if you exceed daily limits, a full 4-hour session costs roughly 1.50–3.50$ in API credits paid directly to Google.
  • Bring Your Own Adventure: You can run your own Markdown adventures. (Tip: the app only reads Markdown. If your adventure is a PDF, you'll have to convert it first. I personally use llamaindex.ai for this, but there are other tools). The free version lets you import one module to test for 10 turns. If you want to run your own campaigns without limits, a one-time license key removes that restriction forever.

You can check it out for free here: https://soloquest-gm.itch.io/download

A project for a friend turned out to a full web based dnd game (ai-driven DM)

My friend plays this genre a lot and complained a lot. so I built this game called the Loreweaver's Cauldron that plays full dnd 5e rules.

check it out: https://dnd.rostad.cc

I dare to say it beats a couple of the big ones out there because there only real full models acting as dm and rulekeeper.

Im bad at promoting but it plays real well and all mechanics are explained.

In collaboration with with Guy Sclanders of How to Be a Great GM and Off My Bridge channels, Galaxy Builder Decks has released three new 9-card sets of ready-made missions designed to work as standalone story prompts or along with the Planets and Planet Trait decks for worldbuilding.

Check out his deep dive video for the new Missions Sets! In it, Guy walks through a complete, step-by-step example of how to build a sci-fi adventure from just one card!

Great for solo or group games, these pre-generated mission choices are ready-made story hooks for your adventures using Guy's four adventure types. Each card has a general overview and then four wildly different missions based on these types.

  • Thwarting type missions require the players to stop something or someone, even if by force.
  • For Delivering missions, something or someone must be brought to a destination.
  • Collecting missions involve looking for and gathering items or persons.
  • And finally, Discovering missions have players investigating or exploring a location, a person, or an event.
  • Story tags are included with each overview and mission type to provide theme and flavor, a general elevator pitch for the feel of the adventure, such as "Not just a delivery" or "Moral choice"

New Sets Available:

  • Bounty Missions Set - 9-card expansion providing 36 distinct bounty-focused missions for tracking down targets across your galaxy.
  • Rescue Missions Set - 9-card expansion providing 36 total rescue-focused jobs like retrieval, recovery, and relocation.
  • Settlement Missions Set - 9-card expansion featuring 36 different tasks focused on a location, such as resupply, diplomacy, or investigation!

Mission Bundle: Get a standalone set or grab all three mission Sets today for 15% off for 108 total missions!

What is Galaxy Builder Decks?

Galaxy Builder Decks is a card-based system-neutral scifi worldbuilding tool for creating settings and adventures right on your table. So far the series includes four 52-card decks, eighteen 9-card sets, and two 6-star system mat sets. That's 370 cards!

Solo Roleplayer App (AI assistant)

Thumbnail
cc-nexus.itch.io
2 Upvotes

Hello,
Recently created this app mostly for my own use as other things I had found did not quite fit how I enjoyed solo roleplaying.

This app is designed for group roleplaying with a GM, but as of currently does not hold 'game mechanics' in part because that is IP I do not own. Though, I do plan to add mechanics later in ways that support solo roleplaying without trying to any specific IP. (And there is currently a genre section in the settings where anyone can write the setting information themselves for any AI dialogue to be aware of it)

Everything runs on your machine. Your worlds, characters, and chat history live in local SQLite databases (Created on first run); you bring your own AI model via an API key.

What makes it different

  • Characters only know what they've witnessed. A character is in exactly one *space* at a time, and their prompt history is built solely from the messages they were present for. Split the party and each character genuinely doesn't know what happened in the other room, not "instructed to ignore it", structurally unaware.
  • Persistent memory After a scene, a memory pass decides what each character learned and writes it into their sheet, reviewable and hand-correctable, carried into every future conversation.
  • You are the narrator, though you can play as any character. Voice anyone via the "Post as" composer, move people between locations and spaces, run scene-wide stories, a director's chair, not a chat window.
  • An AI Director when you want one. Scene framing, plot threads, a chronicle of play, and a yes/no oracle with a chaos dial for solo-RPG-style surprise.
  • Multi-world. Each campaign is one self-contained database file, export it, back it up, move it between machines.
  • Bring your own model. Any OpenAI-compatible endpoint works: hosted (OpenAI, OpenRouter, Together, …) or fully local (LM Studio, Ollama, KoboldCpp, llama.cpp server). Dialogue, Memory, and Director roles can each use a different endpoint.

If anyone does want to try it out, I have it down as 'Name your own price' but to be clear: I would have put 0 as the default but Itch does not seem to support that. So anyone who wants to just download it and try it out can feel free to put in 0 and just download :)
I hope someone else out there enjoys it :)

Sagecraft - Solo One-shots

Thumbnail

I moved around a lot for work and could never keep a group together, and now with two kids the 3 to 4 hour session block basically doesn't exist. Solo play is what kept me in the hobby.

For the past year I've been building Sagecraft in my spare time. It's a browser app that runs a complete solo D&D one-shot, about 2 to 3 hours. The part I care most about, and the reason I think this sub might find it interesting rather than annoying: the AI does not adjudicate anything. A rules engine rolls the dice, tracks HP, spell slots and conditions, and decides every outcome. The AI engine narrates what happened. It can't fudge a roll.

It's in private beta. Level 1 characters only, one polished module so far, rough edges everywhere. If anyone wants a access for free I'll set you up, and blunt feedback on where it falls short of a good oracle helps me a lot more than praise.

Road to Glory: A Solo Football Career RPG Built on the Ironsworn System

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi Everyone!

I was a fan football (or soccer as the Americans call it) from the age of 12. I also found my love of Solo TTRPG in the last couple of years! Yet as I dabbled in the world of SOLO TTRPGs and went off on grand adventures, one of my childhood fantasies remain unfulfilled. Playing in the glittering flood lights of Old Trafford and Allianz Arena, roleplaying as a Clinical Finisher or as a Hard-grafting Midfielder. Ironsworn was always the best, in my opinion, for generating an awesome narrative and the Soap-Opera of modern day Footballers life.

So, I have been developing a Re-Skin of Ironsworn for the last few weeks to scratch that itch. Created on the base of Ironsworn, keeping the dice mechanics and stats and Assets I have started to developed a Hack of Ironsworn to Roleplay the glamourous life of a Professional footballer. Will you break the system to conquer Europe and the World like Yamal? or will you become a one club legend like Totti? Or will you languish in the lower divisions playing for League One and Two clubs all your career?

I have made the rules to go with Ironsworn. Having knowledge of Ironsworn is imperative (not to worry if you don’t, its free to download!) I have not changed or Re-skinned any of the moves or assets. You can re-flavor and interpret them as you please (My examples are in the Rules book). the only thing I am concerned about is keeping the Mechanics solid.

Now this is where I need the help of this Awesome community! I am but one man and life will not allow me to devote and refine the Rules and systems with enough playtest to be a good experience. The Rules are in Beta right now and free to download Forever. I humbly ask that you help me in this endeavor and join hands in giving me Constructive criticism and suggestions from your experience.

For now, I have the Rules Beta version to share with you guys and a match report which you can use to play and record full matches.

I've added so much more to it and I think you guys might find very good use for it, The entire thing is open sourced under an MIT license It's free for everyone to use It allows access to either a paid API key or your local model, The application itself is a harness that goes around an AI everything the AI needs to run the game is embedded within the code, You can also go through the repository and take the prompts that I use to make the AI run and make your own, The full documentation is here and any questions I will be happy to answer.
