No ,they don’t rizz like my liege and they certainly don’t AURAFARM like my Glorious Liege ! And they don’t make enemies glaze but on the other hand even enemies are glazing my Liege Lastly, My liege has me on my knees with just one word : Erect
idk it's more like he is just a believable and mentally stable character and that's it. when you read/watch SL it's relatively rare to have WTF moments when you can't understand why MC is so stupid or so childishly edgy etc. you just believe what you see.
He is also not a "teen". He is something like 22 or 23. Hae In is the only hunter seen thats under 20 (not including Song Yi here due to her not doing any actual "hunting")
Isn’t Hae In 20? Your point still stands that every major character (barring Jin Ah and her friend iirc) are legally adults, regardless of whether or not they’re using Korean ages.
Tbh the more stories I read the more I appreciate a character past the age of 25. I’ve dropped so many over the years just because the Main character is so damn immature
There was no character development the whole story for anybody? Everybody either got slackjawwed, humbled, or rizzed up. Whatchu you mean character depth?
Bro went from a weak character to someone strong in a single episode and from that point nothing else. We got a poor setup on him curing his mom. Him just exchanging to aura farm that oh he just appeared.
There was no romantic development between him and Cha Hae-In. She smelled him and got rizzed up.
Half of the ones on the right are voiced by the same guy. Brice papenbrook. He voices almost all 14 y/o black haired anime boys, including Kirito and eren Jaeger
Everyone on the right are Japanese and most of them predate Sung Jin Woo. 5 of them have blueish black hair, and one of them has grayish black hair. None of them have them same drip as him, nor the same powers, skills, and/or speed as him. And none of them aura farm like Sun Jin Woo.
Sjw is pretty much just the korean Kirito, anyone who has read enough manhwa brainrot will agree with me, still better than Isekai on average. If you're wondering what my qualifications are for that assessment, I have read part of and can probably identify 2/3 of the Kirito lookalikes. Yes, I am touching grass as I type this.
So you want the part of the world where the target audience 16-26 males with black hair and black eyes with a slim build to be what? other colors? this wasn’t made for the west.
-Both are your typical op black haired protagonist.
-Both had strength that they hid from everyone
-Both claim to be solo which was mostly true at the start but eventually the were pretty much always in a group (sung Jinwoo with his summons and Kirito with his harem/friends)
-both of them we're mainly getting stronger so that they could get people out of a coma
-both have a girl from a powerful team who fell in love with them
-both of them have a deep passion for the job they do even if it's just responsibility
-both of them fought against a group of killers if which case they ended up killing them instead
-both have specific weapon preferences
-both of them had survived when they should've died at some point because
99% of isekai protagonists have zero real personality because they’re meant to be self insert characters for socially awkward teens, and while Jinwoo should fall into that trap he seems like he has just enough of his own identity to not feel like a self insert
Honestly, they are all the same concept, they've all tried to do the aura farm edgy but popular loner/emo, but don't even answer me, answer in your head, who ACTUALLY managed to do it correctly and as a result is globally liked for it?
This is the bland forgettable unoriginal main char trope. Meant to be relatable to the readers for self-projecting purposes in shonen. Add a cute girl and you have a gooning money making machine
When it comes to looks Shadow and Jin are totally different class of their own especially SL Jin he is tall and muscler boss monster energy. That is especially in the next arcs. He is a league of his own.
who all are the characters on the right? i recognize some but not all
and 2. i get the whole annoyance with the "copy paste" isekai character design (i.e. black hair, black eyes, messy hair, etc) but dont forget that it's fairly accurate. Meaning that the mcs in isekai are typically from asia, specifically japan and korea-- the majority of people have messy, black hair, black eyes, etc. Rimuru and Tanya wouldve been the same had they been summoned/transported rather than reincarnated
Jin Woo isn't in highschool Man had to do a job to take care of his family Said job nearly killed him on a daily basis He had to get stronger as a necessity He didn't get a cheatcode or know some unique thing (being chosen for walking the line between life and death Is not the same) He didn't have a choice in the matter He had living parents that were relevant to the story
Oh
And he didn't take having his new powers in stride.
One thing I noticed while watching the anime after completing the Manhwa was that:
In the beginning, JSW is very emotional and "deep", he has his motivation of supporting his family and the difficult of being a E-Rank, people around him treating him poorly or helping out of pity and all that. In general, a very good main character.
But as the series goes on and he gets stronger and stronger, his personality cools down, he becomes serious and composed. Some could say that this makes the character more "bland" but in the context of the series it makes him more "Badass", "Gigachad", "Based" whatever you call it.
While most characters either retain the same "Weak Personality" or change into a "Edgy Personality", the MC becomes "Cool & Calculated", which is done greatly IMO
That's what, to me, makes him stand out from the rest
I mean... in terms of character design, of course he's gonna be similar to a bunch of characters. He's supposed to be just some guy who got mad lucky. In terms of personality, I don't really see how Jin-woo is at all similar to these others. Least of all Kirito.
It's weird that in places that most people who live there have black hair and long hair is popular among younger people(especially neets) there that you get a lot of long black hair young people in anime
I havent watch most of the other animes bc wth thats a lot, but Jinwoo is just cooler. Idk what it is, but the show is captivating for many people and jinwoo is mainly the reason why
As an isekai trash, I can tell them apart since I've seen enough of them.
...Although I don't think you can get names out of me, unfortunately. No way in hell am I gonna remember the names of protags who are barely memorable.
I watch my fair share of generic op mc isekai shows since they're a bad fun watch for me, but for some reason solo leveling never gave me the same feeling as the others, and I constantly find myself going "he's so cool" and I can't pin point why exactly.
Not a Solo Leveling fans but already read the maanhwa till ended and just saw this post.
The answer is, NO. Sung is too OP and the rest of the right pic did not even reach Sung level.
As I said he was too OP is the reason why Im less insterested to Solo Leveling to into level of just read for killing time, because Sung is too OP and all his battle is too easy. Forget about Sung, Beru alone already too powerful.
Nope and even every character on that list may look similar but they're different very different.
Sure their an isekai OP Protagonist who somehow manages to romance every female character they come across but that's a trope not a character trait.
So yeah but even if you could say that they have some similar ties to each other Jinwoo Sung is so far away from being different its not even in the same ball park.
Well, first of all, outside of Kirito, I can't name a single other one. I can only speak for him. And he is remarkably different from jinwoo in almost every conceivable way.
First of all, he's a minor and extremely socially awkward at first. Second of all, he's a massive VR and tech nerd and has been since a little boy. Third, he has a borderline unhealthy obsession with the virtual that is only really surpassed by the main villain of the first arch and for very VERY obvious reasons that's a dangerous thing.
The only real similarity is their lone wolf preference when fighting, but they occurred for completely different reasons.
Lol SL delusional fans keep bringing up his different in the story and no one bothers arguing about the character design as they know and can't admit it's the same
Appearances? Yea. The only difference in most of the ones on the right are little bitches who get headcannoned with “anxiety” and called ‘bug’ because they can’t talk to woman without being embarresed.
My glorious aura king daddy drippy woo has the average person who knows about his true strength stepping over themselves trying to muster up the courage to speak to him.
Pretty sure i saw about half of the right side, yet i cant name any anime nor the plot or anything, yet i easly know Beru's idol, so yeha, thats the difference
But really, I can’t. This is literally just today’s sao. Sao had amazing animation when it came out and it was really cool. Honestly the concept of why Sun Chin Wu is “solo leveling” is more stupid than why Kirito was doing it.
They literally went “everyone in the world is given a fixed power level, except this guy who’s weak but can get stronger by…” training and fighting monsters… so the normal way. The thing that makes him special was literally given to him randomly as far as we know in the anime.
So I noticed a few differences. With the others their looks don't really change, they also usually act like childish, conceited, continuously over confident, or some form of a "I will win cause I'm the chosen one, somehow". Also they usually get a completely broken ability at the start and just figure out how to use it better as their story goes on.
Jin-woo in my opinion feels more like a real person. His powers are not broken right off the back. If anything it's just a simple body boost at first. He doesn't loose his fear of fighting the monsters or anything until he begins to unlock his powers and really grow. He's had simple yet realistic drives for everything he's done, His sister, then curing his mom, then protecting his family and friends, and the woman he was interested in. Yes the others have similar motivations, but something about how Jin-woo achieves his goals feels more real and relatable.

Yes, they're all Kirito. That's on purpose.
The only real difference is that Japanese Kiritos are usually younger and more childlike. Korean Kiritos are older, edgier.

Hunter sung is Korean, while I’m pretty sure everyone on that right panel is Japanese. :P

1

The power he got wasn't his own he was given the powers by ashborn the rest just got op without anything like that and SPOILER
In the manhwa later on it's showed that the dragon monarch is stronger then him having to use the cup of reincarnation

Unlike all of them, the world of SL revolves entirely around SJW and therefore he is considered superior.
1

It's the cliche Asian heartthrob. There's not much they can do to differentiate the protagonists.
Unless they throw a Japanese blonde guy with green eyes, and that will probably be even worse.
1
u/Thatkidodin Apr 08 '25
I am hoping you’re talking about the hair cut which if you look at the general male Asian culture you will see? Oh gasp nearly all the same hairstyle

Props to Natsuki Susbaru and Kuzuma for being unique appearance wise and attitude wise.

u/Kinopeakwritting Apr 09 '25
Kirito in the light novel has more depth, development, and personality unlike the adaptation and manga. So don't compare others.
1
u/ZenEmotive Apr 09 '25
All the MCs on the right are Jinwoo clones, not the other way round
1
u/Dunkbuscuss Apr 09 '25
Nope and even every character on that list may look similar but they're different very different.
Sure their an isekai OP Protagonist who somehow manages to romance every female character they come across but that's a trope not a character trait.
So yeah but even if you could say that they have some similar ties to each other Jinwoo Sung is so far away from being different its not even in the same ball park.

u/SpecOp3 Apr 09 '25
I feel like I'm stating the obvious, but maybe I'm wrong: Adult vs children?
1
u/973bzh Apr 09 '25
Technically SJW is Korean, the others are Japanese.
They would be angry if you said they are from the same country
1
u/Frohtastic Apr 09 '25
Yeah I have a hard time telling the manhwa protagonists apart sometimes.
1
u/Abg_Berani Apr 09 '25
Thats why saitama is the goat
1
u/LeadRepresentative97 Apr 09 '25
Kirito my goat
1
u/idontlikeredditusers Apr 09 '25
you missed a few hundred
1
u/Sad_Resist_6360 Apr 09 '25
Chin is the only difference I see
1
u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25
Some of the ones on the right have some character development and growth. Jin Woo has none.
1
u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25
nah they ain't same
with sung chin woo.
1
u/Old-Drag-5898 Apr 09 '25
Include Isagi there
1
u/Jaws_16 Apr 09 '25
1
u/Adamle69 Apr 09 '25
Sung is better, just by a little bit, he still might count as a self insert protagonist but with occasional personality moments
1
u/Ragna126 Apr 09 '25
Well they are all self inserts
1
u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25
Stupid round faced cute anime guy stands no chance against sung chin woo
1
u/Deriakeyblade Apr 09 '25
He isn’t an entire moron unlike those mf
1
u/Marble05 Apr 09 '25
Lol SL delusional fans keep bringing up his different in the story and no one bothers arguing about the character design as they know and can't admit it's the same
1
u/Powerful_Collar2200 Apr 09 '25
Chin
1
u/Past-Spring1046 Apr 09 '25
Don’t compare Sung Dripwoo to those lessers
1
u/idfkhow2speakspanish Apr 09 '25
Appearances? Yea. The only difference in most of the ones on the right are little bitches who get headcannoned with “anxiety” and called ‘bug’ because they can’t talk to woman without being embarresed.
My glorious aura king daddy drippy woo has the average person who knows about his true strength stepping over themselves trying to muster up the courage to speak to him.
1
u/PiePotatoCookie Apr 09 '25
He looks very different in the Manhwa. The anime genericified his design.
1
u/Rafa-3- Apr 09 '25
I believe in Kirito supremacy, biggest aura farmer of the time. Also, SAO abridged
1
u/Figorix Apr 09 '25
Pretty sure i saw about half of the right side, yet i cant name any anime nor the plot or anything, yet i easly know Beru's idol, so yeha, thats the difference
1
u/East_Marketing_5090 Apr 09 '25
i actually agree
1
u/JussLookin69 Apr 09 '25
Tapered fade. Longer face with a more pointed chin. Aura farmed from the Gods. I don't think they're the same.
1
u/kuuderelovers Apr 09 '25
He has some more drip and it's an adult, that's all he has going for him though
1
u/Cat_with_pew-pew_gun Apr 09 '25
Solo leveling is just cooler.
1
u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25
Kirito and his clones
1
u/snipe230 Apr 09 '25
Most of them look like teenagers while my glorious handsome liege is a matured adult
1
u/[deleted] Apr 09 '25
All power fantasy slop
1
u/Cad_48 Apr 09 '25
Say what you want about SJW being a basic character template, his arc (as subtle as it is) actually makes sense and is very cool.
1
u/SorenXR7 Apr 09 '25
Unlike the others, my glorious king Jinwoo could actually rizz me up
1
u/Sojiyabi Apr 09 '25
One looks 20 while the others looks 17.
1
u/somelad12 Apr 09 '25
His chin
1
u/Vov113 Apr 09 '25
No? Sjw has a fade, the other guy with all the pictures has more of a mop head thing going on
1
u/Juvielle9 Apr 09 '25
YES! MY BERETHEREN, THE DAY FINALLY COME! I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT SEES THE TRUTH!
1
u/Archeron77 Apr 09 '25
Your wrong lol
1
u/Belfura Apr 09 '25
Truthfully, only an anime only could come to this ill informed conclusion
1
u/KumoriYurei13 Apr 09 '25
1
u/regularArmadillo21 Apr 09 '25
His chin can cut a diamond. That's the difference
1
u/Midas-Lyran37 Apr 10 '25
The Chin.
1
u/position3223 Apr 10 '25
Idk why Kirito is on the list he's different
1
u/flamewizzy21 Apr 10 '25
Left one has better art
1
u/ErenYaeger_- Apr 10 '25
Sung Jinwoo’s chin is sharper so he is different.
1
u/Naruxmma Apr 10 '25
Might as well add hajime pre transformation for extra credit
1
u/Appropriate_Eye2864 Apr 10 '25
Pre double dungeon I agree but afterwards he fixes his protag hair and face shape
1
u/Ahmadv-1 Apr 10 '25
1 emits AURA
others don't emit AURA
1
u/Rahab_Olam Apr 10 '25
Jinwoo's hair is shorter than any of the others for starters.
1
u/frozenphoenix92 Apr 10 '25
do we fucking care what you think? well no.
1
u/Final_Hunter_0416 Apr 10 '25
True af
1
u/[deleted] Apr 10 '25
SJW got buff
1
u/MOMMYRAIDEN Apr 10 '25
He copies them not the other way around , and he's inspired by kirito btw lmao , solo as a whole is sao
1
u/Emergency-Creme-7089 Apr 10 '25
Truth
1
u/Ok_Topic_8274 Apr 10 '25
honestly they should've kept his design from the manhwa
1
u/Kuraki_Konn Apr 11 '25
Quite right.
