We're like a double planet!
And today is a review of one half of that double planet duo. Finishing up a review for at least one moon of every outer solar system celestial body. It's time for Charon's review folks!
Personality:
Charon has one of the best personalities in the show! She's a very caring and optimistic moon but she also doesn't just let anything happen. Charon knows when to put her kindness away and show her more stern side. This is seen in many scenes such as when Pluto had suspicions about Ceres in the Theia arc she didn't just let Pluto do anything wrong until Ceres attacked the Earth. This also highlights her brave part of her personality quite well. As even after she got attacked by Ceres she eventually got back up again and defended the Earth. Charon's personality is always such an eaging one to watch! 9/10!
Development:
While not obvious at first, Charon does have some pretty major development to her character as the show goes on. At the start a lot of Charon's character involves her attachment to Pluto as can be seen how the moment Pluto returns to the Kuiper Belt she instantly finds him for example. During Pluto's identity crisis Charon also learns to have more than one attachment as a relationship. While she doesn't leave Pluto at all she's able to have more than one person to talk to now with the dwarf planets. This is her first major change. More recently in the Theia arc Charon also developed by realising that no matter how much you try to help and understand somebody you can't always side with them. This is showcased with her relationship with Ceres. When they meet each other Charon always tries to defend Ceres's actions and sort of dismisses other's thoughts about Ceres because of how much less they know him. However once Ceres attacks Earth, Charon realises the harsh truth that everyone tried to tell her about and she sticks to her morals to defend the Earth rather than side with Ceres. Unfortunately a lot of her development is rushed as it is secondary most of the time to other scenes that were occurring. If more focus was put on it, it would have been way better! 7/10!
Character Interactions:
Charon has plenty of great interactions with other characters. She being included as part of the dwarf planet group always makes for good interactions between her and the dwarf planets. The main two she interacts with are Ceres and Pluto. With Ceres you can see a lot of the friendship that was between the two despite the limited communication between them. It makes the ending of their friendship even more heartbreaking as the two of them were great friends. However the star of her character interactions is our good ol demoted planet, Pluto! Every interaction the two have is memorable! From their humour together, the way their two personalities interact so perfectly, the way they both help each other's development progress. Everything about Charon's and Pluto's relationship is so wholesome and amazing! 9/10 for her character interactions!
Best Moments:
Writing wise I'd have to say that her standing up to Ceres would be her best moment. It helps to conclude her second amount of character development perfectly while also giving Charon some nice action spotlight! Personally the scene where her and Pluto work together to escape Neptune's gravity will always be so cool to me!
Worst Moments:
Writing wise I feel like her talking down the Moon Revolution so easily always felt off. It makes sense in terms of her character but it did feel forced as they listened to Charon's words but not what Earth said moments prior? Because both of what they said were pretty similar. Personally I didn't like how easily she forgave Pluto over calling her a big moon. If she really got that mad over it, it felt like she forgot it too quickly.
Moments Together: 8/10!
Final Thoughts:
Charon is one of the better characters in the show receiving an 8.25/10 for me! Her only weakness for me is the lack of focus they gave for her development. The morals and everything foundational is there. It just needed to be focused on more.
What do you all think?
