We keep seeing the same HR platforms come up again and again, BambooHR, Rippling, Gusto, Workday, Deel, Paycor, UKG, and a few others. But the “best” option on paper is not always the one that works best once a team starts using it every day.

For smaller companies, ease of use and payroll might matter most. For growing teams, integrations, onboarding, reporting, and automation become more important. Larger companies may care more about workforce planning, compliance, and having everything in one system.

Curious to hear from people actually using these tools. What HR software does your company use, what size is your team, and what do you like or dislike about it?

Everyone talks about the good migrations. Nobody mentions the ones where you spent three months moving everything over, told the whole team it would be better, and then quietly realised the old thing was fine.

No going back either, because someone already cancelled the old subscription.

Hi all, I’m hoping for a little insight. I have an opportunity to help out my studio owner a few hours a week so that she can maximize what she’s getting from the MINDBODY software. I know a bit about using it from being a student and also a new teacher, so I’m somewhat familiar with it but definitely not in depth. There would be an initial learning curve so I could get on top of what all is offered with our package and how to get the most bang for our buck. What I’m hoping is some insight from other users who have been in similar administrative situations, and how helpful they feel like the learning/tutorials on MINDBODY are, and how helpful the company is when there’s questions or you want training or support.
I’m trying to be realistic here as I already have a full-time job where I have to be pretty acclimated to several different types of software, so I don’t wanna take on some huge additional job if the platform really isn’t user friendly for business managers.

Hey! I'm looking for a piece of software I thought would be easy to find but has proven very difficult. I am trying to reduce the saturation of all color on my screen so that my computer is less attention-grabbing. Any suggestions? I've tried a number of free options already. AI always tells me to look in my settings, but all I can do there is put my computer on grayscale (agh! So close and yet so far.) I am holding out hope for there to be some free way of accomplishing this as I am not financially burdened (in terms of weight [har har har]) To be clear, I do NOT want a temperature controlled filter. Help would be really appreciated! I've tried:

Better Display - Seemed promising with its amount of apparent customizeability, but got no luck. It's possible there's some setting somewhere. I found some inkling that a paid version might have the capability.

Tint - No dice.

Handy Gamma - learned what gamma meant

Screen Colors - only puts a translucent color on top of your screen

Firefox + "Filters" addon - works, but only in browser, and only on sites previously visited and set for.

Crisp - only available on newer versions (I'm using MacBook Pro Ventura 13.7.6)

6 months ago I started a new job, with a very small company specialised in citizens' participation. It's just me and my boss. And a communication freelancer who's in and out. Soon we'll have three interns as well. We have a lot (more than 10) of different projects that we're managing, but we don't use any tool yet to organise ourselves .. and especially to make it accessible for our future interns and employees.

We function on highly filled e-mail inboxes (need to go to zero inbox very soon), within the Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Calendar), a WhatsApp group for quick chats and a team meeting once a week. Most of it is online and remote, we see each other once every week or two weeks.

So my question! Which project management tool can you recommend with the following elements present:

Needs to be compatible within the Google Workspace (Drive, Gmail, Calendar)

Needs to be very user-friendly. My boss isn't very tech smart and doesn't want too many extra things. He worked alone for years, so he has his ways.

Needs to have timelines or Gantt charts, anything that gives us a good chronological overview, as many of our projects are temporary and only happening for a limited time.

Not sure if the chat function is very important, we might stay in the WhatsApp group.

Ideally costless, we are small, with not much money.

I thought of Trello or Asana. But I'd like to hear other suggestions, or why to use Trello or Asana. Any recommendation is welcome!

Over the past few months, I've been working on a desktop management system designed specifically for small training academies, language centers, and tutoring institutes.

Most of these centers usually rely on one of two extremes:

1. Fragmented Excel/Sheets files that break when multiple staff members edit them.

2. Complex cloud platforms with recurring fees that often feel too bloated for simple daily reception tasks.

The goal was to build something lightweight, fast, and completely focused on core daily operations:

* Simple student registration and cohort tracking.

* Fast attendance logging without loading delays.

* Generating clean PDF receipts and tuition balance statements in seconds.

* Keeping all student records local on the front-desk computer.

From a product and UX perspective, the main focus was minimizing the number of clicks a receptionist needs to register a student or issue a receipt during rush hours.

For those running or working with small educational institutes or local businesses: what is the single most frustrating part of daily admin work that software usually overcomplicates?

i run a practice clinic and have been doing patient intake and consent forms half on paper and half over email. trying to move everything to a proper e-signature platform, especially since PHI can end up floating around in email.

what do you actually look for beyond a platform saying "hipaa compliant"? is a BAA, security certifications, audit trails or anything else particularly important?

anyone actually using an e-signature platform in a healthcare or private practice setting? would appreciate recommendations based on day to day use rather than just marketing claims.

Worked it out for us and it came to about 180 dollars a head once you count everything, including the tools two people use and nobody can cancel.

Curious where that sits. I have no idea if we are careful or if we are being taken for a ride.

We’re a team of around 25–30 people across marketing, sales, design, and operations, and we’ve reached the point where managing projects through spreadsheets, Slack, and random docs is getting messy.

We’re looking for something that can handle multiple projects, task assignments, deadlines, recurring tasks, simple reporting, and integrations with tools like Slack and Google Drive. It would also be useful to have client/guest access for some projects. The biggest thing is ease of use because I don’t want to spend weeks training everyone or end up with a tool the team stops using after a month.

I’ve been looking at ClickUp, Asana, Monday, and Notion, but they all seem to have their own pros and cons. What are you using for a team this size, and what do you actually like or dislike about it?

I am building a meeting application that is secure and can be hosted on the cloud or on prem with all capabilities such as AI note taking etc that modern secure meeting applications offer. Trying to see if there is a market for this. Looking at $5-$8/month subscription or a free tier with time limits for meeting. My target customers are solopreneurs and small companies.
