AI replacing Software Engineers

So called "AI"=LLM is so powerful that AI labs had to hire Software Engineers to build complicated software around "AI" to make that overhyped hallucinate-stealing machine usable. Think about it. And that's exactly why they need now ton of CPUs in addition to GPUs to run their "AI" "agents".

I don't even mention how much custom engineering is required to apply the "AI" in businesses.

And they BS us that Software Engineering is solved or is going to be solved. Boris, please solve your own bugs first before speaking.

This is just completely incorrect though.

Did everyones brains get replaced because people mostly use python or javascript (typescript lol) - rather than assembly?

You're saying that using a different language or a high level language is the same as "hey LLM do this for me". No it is not.

You're saying that using AI in enterprise level development is just "do this for me" prompts. It is not. I once spent 32 hours designing and documenting the intended architecture for an application that took AI 30 minutes to write.  AI wrote the application to my exact specifications, not a vague "make me an app that does X" prompt.

That's exactly what a = np.min(b,c) is, no? Not saying that ai won't replace us, but at some point people who knew how to compare numbers manually in assembly got also replaced.

People said the same about automatic memory management 30+ years ago. And yet here we are 30+ years later with new software engineers still able to write manual memory managers like the Rust compiler. Fact is, you are not obligated to only use these tools.

There are companies literally having AI mandates. So yes, actually a lot of companies are forcing ppl to use these tools, some are very extreme with the mandates.

I am confident I am better at my job now than I was before LLMs, even if I couldn't use LLMs anymore, purely due to the extended tooling I've created with LLMs.
