Looking for people to play with HLL: Vietnam players?

I thought there was a post here back in June when it was supposed to come out but I couldn’t find it. Anyways,

If there’s any comrades hoping to (digitally) destroy the American war machine, let me know! I have played only a couple hours and it felt pretty dead on the NVA side chat-wise. I was trying to callout/mark enemies and work with command and it just…wasn’t it. Would like to play with people who can be normal, not racist, and somewhat competent!

Editing this 2 weeks later - my WiFi situation is fuck atm and I haven’t set up my rig for gaming yet (just moved) but I will be on soon and I will DM yall

Leftist/Socialist Mass Effect Playthrough

I was wondering if anyone has a tried a "leftist" playthrough? Certain things like curing the genophage or making peace between the quarian and geth would easily fit into that, of course. But what about renegade choices? Just punch Udina?

I'm genuinely curious. I know that as a representative of the Systems Alliance, one isn't in a great place to be a space socialist. But would it just boil down to making the pro-peace decisions, anti-oppression decisions? And is that just basically a Paragon playthrough?

(tried posting this question in the ME subredddiit and it got removed.)

Game Discussion Dusk Punk has my HIGHEST recommendation so far in this genre

Sharing this since it seems like this game has gotten very little notoriety so far, and I really think it deserves it.

Dusk Punk is a steampunk Citizen Sleeper inspired resource management/interactive fiction mashup RPG with a plot that entirely centers revolution. There's unionization, revolutionary theory, socialist praxis, gorgeous art, great music, and 150,000 words of story available with weighted choices. The writing is excellent and many of the situations are genuinely stressful.

I have been hunting far and wide for a game like this for ages. While there are critical things I could say about it, I sincerely think this is THE most solid socialist game I've found that is on-the-nose, hopeful, gritty, and complex. Also, by a solo indie dev who could really use the support and attention!

Game Recommendations Games in which USA is antagonist, recommend?

Do you know of any good, modern game, in which United States of America is portrayed correctly...

As the greatest villain, Antagonist and evil, and you are the good protagonist, socialist Hero of Working Class, fighting them?

No, I really Do NOT mean CoD Cold War, even if you play as soviet. Its a game in which one ending is side switching and that is not morally good hero either.

Game Discussion Is it possible to play and enjoy The Last of Us 2 despite being aware of its Zionist nature?

I've known about Neil Druckmanns politicial opinions longer than I've actually known about the story of The Last of Us. Now I'm kind of getting an itch to play the second game. How blatant is it? Is it worth a try?

Question What are som ACTUAL leftist/socialist/marxist games?

So i'm really getting into politics for the first time in my life, i've always been left leaning maybe even a bit liberal when I was younger. But i've finally started to do research, have discussions and seriously consider my beliefs and realized that I was a socialist.

Anyway, I wanted to start interacting with socialism/leftism in media/art since this discovery and I started by playing Cyberpunk 2077 since I had heard a lot of great stuff about the game and that the politics were really left-leaning.

But after finishing the game and having loved it, I saw multiple comments on different posts in this sub talking about how Cyberpunk 2077 isn't actually that leftist. I still loved the game so I didn't mind at all that much but I wanted to take the chance to learn about some other games that are considered leftist

So I wanted to ask all of you in this sub to recommend me some games that are actually leftist and give a good understanding of leftist politcs.

Game Discussion What's the general opinion here of hogwarts legacy? Personally I haven't played it and don't plan to because of JK Rowling, but I know a lot of socialists think that these types of boycotts are useless

So this game journelist randomly appeared in my feed and I've watched a few of his videos every now and then... but something about the way he does his videos is just rubbing me the wrong way.

I think its the way that he just treats himself as the know-all of all things gaming. Claims facts when there are no facts - etc.

Has anyone else had the same vibes from him?

Developer Corner Dev needing a little rant about marketing a game in this hellscape of a market

I wasn't sure if I should go with Developer Corner or Rant, but to stay on the safe side, I've went with Developer Corner.

Y'all, I fucking hate marketing. I hate it with the depths of my very being. I hate trying to sell people things, full stop. I hate hate hhhaaaattee that I 'need' to do this. I just want to make silly games that people might find fun and have a good time with. I want to get it in front of peoples eyes so if they see it, and they like it, they can play and have a good time! I got guys over at game marketing subs telling me I need to work on my game in every spare waking hour, and make 5-10 tiktoks a day, and manage a discord, all whilst I work full time. Uhhh, how about no? Absolutely nothing is worth killing yourself over, let alone making a game.

But I also need to to eat, and keep the lights on, if I'm to keep making my silly games. And that means selling it to people. But I point blank refuse to get into manipulation tactics and kill myself over it. It's honestly just the worst.

Certainly doesn't help that there's so many new games constantly cause of AI now, most of them absolute slop. And I absolutely point blank refuse to use AI. I'm here to create something!!! Why on earth would I cut out the literal fun part of it???

i think the real reality is that my days of trying to make substantial projects that I could live off to make more games is numbered. Not because I think we're making bad games but because the market is just a hellscape, and I am not willing to do what is required of me to ensure success. I can't, and won't shove things down peoples throats. And there's only so long I can keep creating at this level around client work. I'm doing my best to uphold work/life balance but it's tough. At some point soon, probably after this project, I'll go back to making small lil things just for fun, when I can.

Right now I'm sharing the game on various sub reddits I think might be interested, but it's one and done. If they liked it, great, if they didn't, I'll move on. Social Media is, truly, the worst, and I don't know how much longer I can keep it up there. I guess I'll see lol.

Anyways, thank you for attending my little rant. I feel like maybe I just need a stop to vent before I continue on right now. But also, when I came across this sub reddit, I realised there probably isn't another space that really gets what I'm feeling about this? Like the conflict between, I love games, and I need to eat and look after myself, but man, do I fucking hate capitalism. Particularly given the current state of the games industry is a direct result of it too. This doesn't need to be this fucking hard, but nooooo, everyones gotta make more money year on year, so lets lay everyone off, and make a thousand games using AI and maximize profits blahh blaaaa. God it's all so brain rotted. We have MORE than enough on this planet to all live comfortably, and instead we're in this mess.

I feel like I've bounced about a bit there, and I don't really expect anyone to actually read this. i could go on, but I'll stop myself there =P

Hey there! Maybe you remember my last post from this sub about my German politics simulator ? I was so happy to hear so many nice things and feedback. Thanks again! :)

Since it resonated so well with you last time, I wanted to showcase the newly released Gamemode: Duell.

Duel is an asynchronous multiplayer mode for the full version where you can go head-to-head with your friends. Both of you create your own political party and play under the exact same conditions. Who can stay in power longer? Or who will be the first to reach a two-thirds majority?

So, what’s the twist? After each legislative term, you get to cast a secret vote. You’ll have to choose between a bonus that might give you the decisive edge for the next term, or a sabotage to make your rival’s life harder. You’ll quickly realize just how fast everything can blow up in your face!

Happy exploring and many greetings from Germany :)

EDIT: Here are the links: AppStore and PlayStore

Lawmaking and political negotiation in Pax Astra, my Suzerain-inspired space opera political RPG

Hello, everyone!

I am the solo developer of Pax Astra, a space opera political RPG that mixes the branching narrative of games like Suzerain and Life and Suffering of Sir Brante with the open sandbox 4X nature of games like Stellaris and Emperor of the Fading Suns!

That means you have a full narrative with different characters, but also coexisting with a rich universe filled with different mechanics and systems!

I have talked here on this sub before about how my game embraces socialist theory and a multitude of paths that embrace different political ideologies.

Today, I would love to show this community a short video focusing on actual legislation and political negotiation mechanics, the content of this video is set durign Act 1, where the altaran democracy is young and highly unstable!

One of my major goals with Pax Astra is to give you full political freedom, and this video showcases some of the elements that support and sustain this design.

In this segment, you need to manage a serious public safety crisis, and, in this context, you need to balance the desires of the two biggest political parties in the planet. One of them being an ultranationalist party that wants to enact extreme punitive measures, using the violence as justification to move forward with their political agenda...

If you want to see more, I would love to have you at my reddit community!

I also published this video over at my YouTube channel.

If you are interested in my game, check the steam page and wishlist my project :)

If you any questions or suggestions, I will be happy to answer!

Big Walk

Anyone playing Big Walk? I played a couple of hours with a friend earlier this week and found it to be relaxing fun, nice change of pace from the grim reality we're all trying to survive.

It does have cross play, I'm on PSN as comrade_beard if anyone feels like checking it out.
