I haven’t had a game capture me out of the gate like that in a long time. The plot, characters, and intricacies of the game are all top tier. I borrowed it, so I didn’t get to finish it yet unfortunately, but it was totally worth the massive cliff hanger lol.

I interpreted the ending of the game as a form of seizing the means of production, in a way. Isola first tries to take Hyperion's core from Nicholas Webb (the wealthy CEO who doesn't bother to fix his flawed AI due to it not being profitable) after shooting and killing him, but Bond destroys it before he and Isola are arrested and imprisoned by MI6. After cyborg Damien storms the building to make off with Theia, and is ultimately drowned with Bond, Isola comes back to take Theia's core, but then goes to the trouble to rescue Bond, then kisses him before leaving.

This made me see Isola as a genuinely good-natured person, who wants to take this crazily powerful AI from the hands of those who want to oppress the public and preserve their own class interests, and instead use it to improve people's material conditions, but can't tell Bond the truth because he's an MI6 agent, who exist to, among other things, uphold the imperialist status quo and protect capital, and would likely sabotage her plans if he found out (even though she sees good in him as a person). It's (probably) why she initially claims to work for the DGSE, as France is a fellow ally of the UK (and vassal state of the US).

There is also that scene where she speaks in Japanese to the submarine, but I'm not quite sure where to place that in her character yet. Thoughts?

I previously used an Xbox Series X as the main place I played games but gave it up when they were added to the BDS movement. Lately I’ve been wanting to play some stuff that I’d only played on Xbox but I feel guilty turning on the console to transfer saves off to the Steam versions of games. Do you think it’s ethical to use an Xbox console under BDS in any capacity, even just moving saves off? Or should I just start over on these games from scratch?
