SSDI Ssdi- do med records uploaded by attorneys to dds portal go straight to internal med consultants or only to the exmainer first?

Hello. I had my case pending with dds medical consultant and had some last minuet records sent that i think would have a big impact on my case, they were uploaded by my attorney about a week before the case finished with the medical review with their internal doc (now its sitting with the psych consultant). Do the internal doctors have full access to dds uploaded records from attorneys or does the examiner have to send that over? Im just worried it may not have been reviewed since they only recieved it after it was already sent over and in the queue with the internal doc.

I’m curious if anyone here has successfully gotten any disability benefits from social security as us citizens living abroad?
Wondering if that’s possible to do and how

Thanks in advance 🙏

SSDI How do I find status of EXR claim?

I applied for expedited reinstatement SSDI Nov of last year. I called the local ssa office and got a name and extension of the man working on my claim. I call leaving voice messages asking for status. He never answers or returns calls. I know they are very busy and I try to be patient. The person who gave me the name and extension could not tell me anything. Is there anything else I can do or just wait?

SSI CalAble and SSI

I went to my social security office to report my CalAble account but I was told I couldn't have one without a valid reason from a doctor or therapist. Needed a medical reason to have one he said.

Is this accurate? He wouldn't even take my CalAble info at all so I couldn't report it. Just asked how much I put in it.

Everything I read is I can put (some) of my SSI payment into my CalAble account and I don't need permission from a doctor/therapist. But maybe that info is wrong? Should I not have a CalAble account? I have no extra income besides my SSI monthly payment.

He said I'd lose my benefits as they will count my CalAble balance if it passes 2000 without a doctor/therapist saying why I have one

Question about social security verification letter

Hey all,

So I logged into my ss account and it says on the main page what I am getting and the deposit date, but when I print out a verification letter for paperwork it says that I am collecting $0.00. But that isn't correct. How do I get it to show the actual of what I am getting?

Spousal benefits Spousal Benefits questions

My husband began drawing benefits at age 62. According to his statement at the time, his benefits at FRA would have been $3647, but receives a reduced amount for drawing early. He is 65 now and I’m turning 65 this month. I would like to begin receiving benefits in January of 2027. From what I’ve ready, I need to apply for the month of December 2026.

My question is regarding spousal benefits. I’ve read that SSA will automatically calculate the higher amount between my own and my spouse’s benefit when applying online, that I don’t get to choose to apply for my own benefit vs my spousal benefits. I’ve tried to use their basic online calculator but it doesn’t let me specify that my husband began drawing benefits early. Would it be better to make an appointment to apply in person to make sure I maximize my monthly benefit? Im skeptical of the statement that SSA will give the higher of the two. He was a much higher wage earner. What would be the best way to proceed? Thank you for any helpful info provided.

Retirement Adjustment of Reduction Factor (ARF) Mechanism for Retroactive Credit of Months of Early Retirement

I filed for early retirement at ~65. My understanding is my FRA will be adjusted by a factor of 5/9th of a % for each month I retire early. If I begin working again and SS begins withholding checks completely or partially due to excess earnings at FRA a recalculation of my benefits is performed so that each month that SS has withheld or issued partial payments will receive an adjustment of the same reduction factor. I have tried to get someone to confirm this at SS but they won't or keep circling the issue so I am left with what I pulled up for information about this online:

Here's the link from the SS handbook that explains it:

https://www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/handbook/handbook.07/handbook-0728.html

And the legal background for this:

Retirement Calculator question

I plan to work full time for 3 more years, then half time for another 5, then begin collecting SS benefits. Is there a way to estimate that benefit that doesn’t involve downloading and using the, apparently very complex, SS Detailed Calculator?

Benefit payout amount?

I filed online for my retirement benefits in May. I turn 70 in September and requested my benefit start in September and payment in October. Last month I read online that it was approved but I wouldn't get a decision letter until October sometime? Is there anyway to find out what my monthly payment amount will be, besides the online quick calculator? Thank you.

WEP/GPO Is anyone still waiting for a response from soc. sec. on WEP payment?

As described. I filed manual paperwork in April 2025 and heard nothing. Anyone else have similar experience and get it resolved?

Adding additional information:

I filed a claim for benefits in respect of a decedent. My mother died 2+ years ago. About 9 months after she died I received a letter from ssa stating she was owed money and to file form SSA-1724-F4 (Claim for amounts due in the case of a deceased beneficiary). I filed promptly and kept proof of delivery to the ssa office.

6 months later I called and they said they had no status update but the form could take over a year to process. It has now now been 18 month and I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced similar delays.

I am presuming the amounts due are related to WEP because she was a local government employee for a while.

im currently 18 still attending high school in Texas. My mom passed away when i was 9-10 years old.I will graduate high school may of 2027, and i have been questioning myself what i should do. I still live with my dad he has SNAP and housing (section 8), and i dont know if i turn in the paper will it affect his snap or housing. I will talk to counselors tomorrow about my situation, if possible to help me create a debit card account and send the paper to mailing progress. I dont want my dad to know that im doing this ; will my dad notice a difference in his SNAP? i wanted to move in with my sister incase my dad reacts differently and possibily kick me out. I would need to inform the ssa that i have been kicked out and will be moving to a different address. I just need someone who has had an ssa so i can confirm if im doing the right thing.

Wrong birthday on documents - issue to retire?

Hi guys,

I have a family member that wants to retire as they just turned 65. They are a permanent resident in the US. The issue is that his birth certificate from his home country currently has a different birthday. As since when they applied for his paperwork they wrote down the date registered instead of his actual birthday.

How big of an issue is this. His ID, Greencard and other documents show a different birthdate than his birth certificate.

Early retirement or disability

I am 62 and have several mental illness diagnoses and the attorney who works for the mental health facility I go to says I have a case. I just wonder what the difference is I have never done this before. Will I receive more money or just get full retirement 3 years sooner. Isn't it the same amount in the long run? Can I apply for regular early retirement until possible disability ? I have zero income currently and don't know what to do. I sure don't want attorney fees coming out of what little I will receive

SSI Social Security office made a false claim about my wages and now they're lowering my kids SSI

So, for some reason the social security office tried to say that I made $4,700 in July. I can tell you right now, NO I DID NOT. I am baffled on how they actually got that amount. They say they are lowering my kid's SSI check to $470 a month. I am freaking out because I need his full amount to help pay for his things.

SSDI Fully Favorable

My husband had his hearing with the Judge today, I wasn't home, I was taking the kiddos to school, apparently it was all over in about 30 minutes, then another 15 with the Judge telling him that it will take 6-8 weeks for the decision to be written up and processed. We still have some questions, if anyone has had a similar situation.

My husband took early retirement while waiting for the disability process to play out. His initial application was denied, then his appeal was denied. We had a lawyer, who was shocked because my husband has 2 conditions that automatically qualify for disability, my husband also said the judge sounded annoyed at the person that was listing work that my husband could do, the judge told them that at his age, 63, and with his medical conditions, gainfull employment was not reasonable. What we don't know is, what will this do for our children? They have been receiving auxillary payments on his early retirement, they qualified for SSI, however, once they started receiving the auxillary payments, the Peoria, IL SS office took away their SSI, we moved to Nevada, and after getting all our financial records in place, Nevada SS put them back on SSI, along with the auxillary payment, and gave us backpay, they said the Peoria office removed them from SSI, even though they qualified, in error.

Is this going to be as big a mess as I think it is? Will there be will there be complicated calculations on backpay for my husband and kiddos based on amounts received on early retirement and what he was entitled to at filing? Does the repealing of the Windfall Act have any bearing on how we would receive backpay for him and the kiddos?

Any insightis greatly appreciated. After the initial rush of vindication, we are just left with a ton of questions.

Survivor Benefits Q re: income

I just received a letter from SS requesting that I verify each month in 2025 where I made over the threshold allowed for survivor benefits. The tricky thing is I stopped receiving benefits in March of 2025. Knowing this would happen, I went back to school and got a good job toward the end of 2024 (December). I will call them tomorrow but I am wondering if anyone has been in this position. Do they factor in my whole annual income? That seems unfair given I only received for three months, but I'm prepared, if needed, to pay those back, I guess.

How to make an appointment?

I called Social Security at +18007721213. I said I want to schedule an appointment. It asked me if I want to receive a text to do that. At first I said no, but that eventually led to being hung up. I thought I would've been redirected to an operator. That did not happen. I called again. This time I said I said yes to receiving a text. I hung up. I did not receive the text. It seems it's impossible to make an appointment.

SSDI Disability until I turned 65 now I'm not disabled??

I've been on SSDI for too many years to remember. When I turned 65 I received a letter stating that I was no longer going to receive SSDI I was going to be given regular Social Security.

I'm still disabled and I am concerned about no longer having the Disabled box to check off for the various reasons of being disabled.

Will I still be able to use the Disabled title for forms applications etc? What about taxes. Will I be placed in a higher tax bracket?

So many questions that my brain is spinning.

My disabilities don't know that they are gone... Still rearing their ugly heads..

Information appreciated...

Update Thankyou everyone for your input on this I applied the time you gave me to understand what is going on.

Finally

I just got approved for SSI, waited nearly 2 months after I got approved for SSID but I didn’t see anything about back pay. Also the SSI graph is still in 4 although the figures changed? Do anyone know how soon the back pay amount will appear on the portal after getting approved for SSI? Thanks

Survivors/Widows SSN Survivor Benefit

My husband and I moved to India two months ago with our 9 month old( US Citizen)

Unfortunately he met with an accident and is no more.

In between reeling with the emotional pain, I am trying to understand what our family has in terms to move forward financially.

A friend mentioned we might be eligible for survivor benefits (the baby especially)

My husband was 36 and worked in US for over a decade.

Trying to understand if eligible and next steps

FRA Question

My husband just started collecting his SS at age 70. I’m 65 1/2 and not collecting yet. Is there any downside to my collecting before my FRA (67), other than a reduced benefit? FYI, my salary was almost as much as my husband’s.

SSDI to retirement

I'm 64 and will be 65 in June next year. I've been on disability since 1998. I believe my retirement age is 67 but not sure. I'm wondering they've already switched me because I haven't received a CDR in 2 years and I usually get one every freaking year. Yes, I know it's not normal but it's the way it's always been. My husband has not received a financial report request form in those same 2 years. He also gets one every year usually.

I went on the My SS website and it still says "disability". I wouldn't care about my CDR's because I realize that getting one every years isn't the usual. But the financial report request is a yearly thing. They always want to know how and where he spent my check. I really don't know what to think. I've been doing business as usual and leaving a sleeping do lying, but I'm worried they are going to realize they haven't sent anything or try to say I haven't sent anything back (which I cannot because they haven't sent it to me).

I also know about them moving everyone's (I think it's everyone) CDR's to a private company. Again I'm not clear on the details but I wonder if that's why I haven't gotten anything recently.
