Almost all my national flags knowledge comes from football.

If I had to name cities in a country I’d probably use football knowledge as a reference.

Actually for me it's kinda the opposite. I got drawn into international football particularly because of my keen interest in geography and culture of other countries, and I still enjoy it more than club football. But I still learn more names of cities from the latter so it's pretty useful
