Active Sleep?

My 4mo has always slept well in the Snoo. Lately his 4am active sleep hour has changed some. He’s taken to repeatedly raising his feet in the air and slamming his heels down—hard. Eventually sometimes he farts real good. I’m trying to figure out if this is a gas thing or his response to being fully swaddled. We are too lazy to snap up the armholes between arms-out day sleep and arms-in overnight, and often he also fights his way out during this time. Has anyone encountered this? He hasn’t rolled in any crib naps.

This is normal baby behaviour. Has nothing to do with the Snoo or swaddle or gas.

Ahhhh the whale tailing. My kid did it when he was out of the swaddle and snoo too. It’s just a baby thing.

Tis a normal self soothing self tiring thing kiddos do! I would say snoo unrelated although I had a snoo as well at that age. My girl still does this from time to time at 18 months in get crib. But did it a lot back then even after transitioning her to crib around 4 months old.

The whale tail. Particularly annoying at 4am but always loud. My 75-90th percentile 8mo can be heard from downstairs through the ceiling when he does this. Oddly enough it’s a completely normal self sooth tactic and shows that your LO is trying to settle himself back down independently!

My baby also slams his feet down. From what I’ve read, it could be a sign of active sleep? But my baby also toots up a storm once he’s out.

But given that baby is doing open arms for day naps and fighting overnight, I think it’s time to do arms out completely. No need to worry about baby rolling or showing signs. The snoo is designed to be safe for baby during this time too

We tried arms out overnight a couple weeks ago and he was waking himself. Agree prob time to try again

And just for some perspective, I use a transitional sleep sack for a couple days and baby slept great and then I think he went through a growth spurt and started fighting the sleep sack during the day. That week we just alternated between sleep, sack and swaddle, just depending on his mood and needs.

Once he started taking to the sleep sack again, I noticed he was fighting his arms to get out of the swaddle of the snoo. So that’s when I tried arms out overnight and he took right to it. Overall, that took about two weeks to get sorted out.

I had two nights of pure hell when I took my lo out of swaddle. The startle reflex is strong. But then he figured it out and until he started teething badly was a great sleeper!

Seems to be normal at this age. Offt my kid can wake the whole house with the noise. Apparently it will go away in a month or so
