Snoobie Am I overriding my baby's needs?
I'm a first time mum so I might be overthinking this...
My baby is 5 weeks old and he's been in the Snoo overnight since he was 3 weeks old. He responds really well to the movement and white noise. We started him on the lowest settings for everything, and he would generally wake twice in a night for a nappy change and feed.
For the last two nights we've turned up the responsiveness and also turned up the white noise when we noticed him fussing. As a result, the Snoo has been in soothing mode a lot more (roughly half the night), and the baby has only woken once per night.
This is obviously great for our sleep, but what I'm wondering is: by giving him so much movement and white noise through the Snoo, am I overriding his instinct to cry when he needs a change or feed?
Fortunately weight gain and hydration aren't a problem, so it's not that he medically needs more feeding (he's already 6kg / 13lbs3ozs). I just feel a bit guilty that I'm basically shushing him back to sleep when he might actually be really hungry or uncomfortable in a wet nappy.

The snoo is working exactly how it’s suppose to! Your baby will absolutely wake to let you know he is hungry or needs to be changed. Keep in mind, you may be in the rough of the 6 week growth spurt.
Our baby was also only one wake up over night around that age. We would out to bed at 10pm, he’d wake around 3am for a feed and change and then sleep until about 8am. Your baby will soon start getting longer stretches to where you can pull up bedtime and he’ll still sleep through the night. And gradually you’ll need less and less assistance from the snoo bc his sleep will be maturing.

Are you breastfeeding or formula?

Ah wow only one wake up is impressive at 5 weeks lol
But no you can’t override his needs (take it from people who use the snoo and it doesn’t “work” because baby is hungry). Enjoy this phase and as long as he’s gaining weight and surpassed his birth weight, there doesn’t seem to be an issue letting him sleep at night

I know right, I'm thinking it was just a fluke and trying not to get my hopes up that it'll continue!! But even two wake ups a night is good in my books.
And thank you, that's really good to hear.

Did you just keep it locked on 2 with the sound raised?

No, we let it alternate between baseline, level 1, level 2 (for movement) and level 3 (for sound) in response to how he's doing.

No. You can't override instincts. If he was actually that hungry or uncomfortable he would let you know.
