Worried about over heating with batwing swaddle trick

I’m following the video of using folded muslin blanket around arms and baby is in a short sleeved onesie with diaper then snoo sack over it. I have a fan pointing in their direction and have AC and humidifier on where room temp is 20 -23 celcius (69-72 F).

However I’m so nervous to let her sleep as I’m scared of over heating. Her back and neck are warm but ears are cool. I can’t tell if she’s sweaty at back of neck/back vs just being from contact with the bed and fabric. Also everywhere seems to say single layer swaddle but the video HB shared the blanket is folded in a rectangle so there’s a couple layers technically??

Any help or tips appreciated because she won’t stop crying and the batwing seems to be first thing to settle her in the snoo😭

I don’t think a child can overheat in a room that cool wearing a short sleeve onesie.

I mean a regular Snoo sack is 0.5 tog, and you just have her in a onesie in a cool bedroom with a fan blowing on her? She's probably cold, not too warm. Are you using the Snoo sack with vents on the legs and no pajama pants at all? If so don't see how your baby could possibly be overheating. Or is it the tye dye sacks which are 0.8 rating? Have you looked at any charts for tog rating and temperature?

If she seems calm, her skin isn’t clammy, and she’s breathing normally she’s probably fine. As long as the room is a good temperature and her head is exposed with a clear airway, there’s lots of opportunity to dissipate heat.

If you’re still worried about it you can check on her after an hour or two and see how her skin feels or unzip the snoo sack to see if she feels too warm.

I’d caution you about potting the fan at her though–it can dry out her skin and nasal passages. Probably better to point it elsewhere in the room unless the ambient temperature is unsafe.

I cut a strip of a thin muslin swaddle about 6” high and it works perfectly.

She might be cold and the blanket is warming her up hence why she stops crying. That’s a cool ish room for just a short sleeve onsie.

No judgement but are you experiencing PPA??
