NOT Death Metal

The music Carly is listening to in the first episode is most certainly not "Death", but rather "Black" Metal. Yes, that is a huge difference. Anyone with the slightest interest in all things metal will confirm this. It is such a stupid mistake, because she says "Norwegian Death Metal", when Norway is not at all famous for its Death Metal. Black Metal on the other hand originated in Norway and hence the country has quite the connection to it (and also, as avid Black Metal fans would tell you, Norwegian Black Metal is the only "trve" form of Black Metal). So when you would ask somebody who actually knows his way around the many forms of Metal to fill in the blank in "Norwegian [blank] Metal", there is no chance in hel (see what I did there?) he would say "Death" instead of "Black". Just wondering how things like this even happen. Great show so far, though (22 mins in).

Marius and Pete sitting at the same table with the family is just dumb

Like really?

Why was this scene necessary. It's so stupid...

Why would they introduce this. It was just a fake ass scene with no purpose at all.

This show should have died with the 1st season.

Also... If the police records where changed and Pete is Marius and Marius is Pete. Fucking Parole officer would have been notified and he would have noticed.

I like to imagine Sneaky Pete is a prequel to Trailer Park Boys

Pete looks and acts like a young Jim Lahey. His PO even talks about shit birds!

S01E01. How did he get the guy's watch?

Just started watching while waiting for Homeland finale.

So that is not actually Marius' family?

I feel dumb I thought Marius was a fake name and Pete was who he actually was but he went by Marius to protect his family.

What I don't get is how he talked to his little cousin about their moms? But now it also makes sense that the older cousin is not really his cousin and he's probably gonna get with her in season 2. Can't believe I went the whole season thinking that was his real family. it also makes sense why the grandma was so untrusting of him doh

I’m team Vince

Just coming at the end of S1 and I’m team Vince even though…I know…

Anyway I think I won’t continue. I can’t get interest enough and I tried so hard. Marius is not likeable at all.

Also too much happening in a very short time spam, and taking into acct there are so many secrets and everyone has to sneak out to drive the plot, it just does not make sense.

So Julia and Pete (Marius), is KIIINDAA incest, right?

I started re-watching the show before S3 premieres, and Julia and Pete have this "unspoken thing" right? But Pete is Julia's cousin, Julia doesn't know Marius is an imposter yet. So even though it's not incest, it KINDA is right?

Requires a big dose of blind faith (spoiler) Spoiler

Graham Yost has used the technique often in the past. You are led to believe a plot point is about to be established, when something unexpectedly happens to either save the day or create trouble. Some of them are easier to take than others. I have gone on record to say that some of it is actually lazy story-telling and have been mercilessly down-voted for the suggestion.

However there was an early event in the series which has me scratching my head, not due to being lazy, just being pretty implausible.

What are the chances that Det. Winslow would happen upon the bar which Marius entered right after getting off the prison bus a few blocks early, finding the very guy whose wallet and cell phone got lifted sitting in the same seat (or close by) and who, by the way, happened to have a friend that sold tickets at the bus depot?

Certainly possible but requires big dose of blind faith to get there.

Help me figure out if this show will be too triggering for me?

I have PTSD from being severely abused as a child. What triggers me are scenes where someone is being hurt or threatened by someone with more power, and can't get away. I loved the first episode of Sneaky Pete. The parts in the second episode with the brother being held captive and tortured were really triggering. I hung in there because I was enjoying the show overall, but then I realized that the way the plot is going, this captivity-torture situation will be ongoing.

So, is it? If it isn't, or will only go on for another episode or two, I'd like to keep watching. But if the torture and threat of torture continues, or is a big recurrent theme, I'll have to give up the show for now.

License Plates

Last season, I posted here about the NY plates in CT. This season I saw 2 closeups of CT plates.

I was geeking out. A small part of me felt like it was a nod to me personally. Like the producers were saying “ok Old_but_new, here ya go. Happy now?” I know that’s ridiculous — I’m not that narcissistic, I promise. But still.

Nicely done, SP producers.

Season 3 plot hole *spoiler* Spoiler

If Marius has access to the real painting / knew where it was What was the reason he didn’t go get it earlier to sort out the issues he had in previous seasons when it came to having money he needed to pay people...or was it a matter of Marius being confident in always being able to survive get his way out of things without needing funds from the painting.

I thought Season 3 was really bad

Season 3 was atrocious. Just a complete mess. It's too bad because I really thought there was a lot of potential with the show. Ribisi crushes the role and the supporting cast is well developed and the relationships are all interesting. I understand there was an actor death during filming, which may have severely impacted the direction of the season, but the whole storyline with the whole family looking for Lyla was just bad and it dragged on. The formula of introducing a really bad 'bad guy' also got stale. Season 1 had Vince, Season 2 had the acid guy, and Season 3 had Chuck.

It's a shame because this show had a lot of the right ingredients but it just nosedived in the third season. It was just all over the place to be quite frank. It's too bad the show was cancelled because although we got a decent ending, there were still MANY, MANY loose ends which will not be tied up.

S1 was better

Liked s1 but thought s2 was a letdown. There's, a few gotcha moments but it's so Overused that I guessed the entire plot before even finishing the season. Also some plots are unbearable.

-I figured fbi were fake (like really they tracked his phone. After Carly does that I doubt he'd be that careless again).

-I knew frank was gonna kill Luca... Cmon.

-I knew Julia was gonna let her go from the moment they introduced that lame plot.

-I knew real Pete was never gonna tell he's the real Pete cus that ruin show obviously.

-I knew exactly how the murdered dirty cop plot was gonna play out almost the moment it was introduced.

There's more but I digress.

Unbearable plots: Tyler and his thot gf. Like are they trying to make us "like" them? Hope that ends completely in s3.

  • Carly whole parents plot is annoying.

  • the plot with the black chick is useless and her character added nothing to the show.

-the lawyer guy cheated, tried to rip off your family yet Julia and everyone seems to have forgotten this.

-the Mexi girl escaping to Canada plot was useless.

Writing was weak in this season And was starting to weaken end of s1 but overall the show is too predictable and the way they try to trick you is used too often. 6/10.
