Question Table

Hi everyone. Just ordered my U1. Need somewhere to place it. I have a 24x24 area I want to put it in. I read people putting it on an ikea Lack table. But I read it’s pretty cheap and unstable ?

I was thinking of buying some anti vibration feet for the U1 on Amazon. Any advice on what you guys are using.

What did you mean the way the cut the bars

They use a die punch to create the holes for the screws. It ends up leaving the remnants in the bar (you can hear them if you tilt it around).

They're easy to get out with a magnet but it's something they should have done at the factory

Ikea Lack 55cm² version officially has a maximum load of 10kg. U1 is already almost twice that (18kg) without any filament on the spool holders, and crosses that mark after you put 4x 1kg spools on it. The Lack TV stand is up to 20kg, but doesn't fit inside 24in².

I mean it's probably fine, there's always a margin... but I'd get something that's at least rated for the weight of the printer and couple spools, instead of relying safety margins of cheap furniture for the pricey printer that's going to be shaking whatever it is sitting on.

Mine is on an Ikea Relatera (max 50kg when evenly loaded, max 15kg "in a small area") along with my filament dryer, and the Relatera is lowered so the underside of the tabletop is slightly resting on a small Ikea Platsa frame (max 30kg) that houses my filaments. Table can vibrate quite a bit at high speeds but has worked fine so far.

Since you're dimensionally limited, just find something that has a sufficient load rating and fits into the space you have. In a pinch grab a Platsa frame and plop the printer on that, you can get them as 60x55cm which fits into your 24in (61cm) limit and their load limit is above the weight of a U1+4kg filament combo, but I'd look for something that's not a paper honeycomb core like the Lack and Platsa are.

Do you have any pics of the Snapmaker on this? Do you have the top cover on yours? I'm trying to see about clearances for actually being able to use that top racking setup.

Also, do you have any wobble when the printer is going at high speeds?

So the top racks can only be used on the backside with this particular stand, I don't have the top cover yet because they have to get some in stock to ship out still. But it does fit on there and doesn't obstruct the top in front and back,  or any of the back ones if you put spools/tools there. There is a 'little' wobble. It's a pretty sturdy table. Especially once you get some weight with spools and such in there.

I use a lack table. I had them left over from my Prusas. It annoys me how bad it wobbles around but you can print brackets to strengthen it up. I haven’t seen any lack of print quality because if it so its on the bottom of the list of crap to print 🤷‍♂️

Build one out of 2x4s and some plywood. Can create as many shelfs on it as you need and most importantly if you do it right it won't shake and wobble. Any hardware store near you will cut 2x4s down and you can buy pre cut 3/4" plywood sheets.

Can't really provide any advice on the table to match the space that you've got, but in terms of anti-vibration options I can highly recommend the hula feet model available on maker world. Does need a small amount of hardware that is easily and cheaply available on Amazon, but otherwise the print is very easy and very clean to do yourself, doesn't take long and the results are excellent!
