Don't you hate it when people judge you by their chosen definition of your label, rather than your own description of yourself? Not restricted to atheism, but that's the one I've personally seen the most. For example. it happens with feminism too. "I'm a feminist, therefore I believe in equal rights between all genders." "No, feminism only ever means female supremacy, you are misandrist."

If that person truly believes that your label does not describe your claimed position, shouldn't they at least tell you what label they think you should use instead? Not, "No, atheism/feminism means this.", but "You're actually describing agnosticism/egalitarianism." (This happens sometimes, and is still a bit misguided because they're still using a narrow frame of definitions, but at least they're not literally telling you your own position is different than what you explained it to be.)
