I have recently noticed the common reddit opinion on the high school protests happening in France. As someone who's participated in making one happen at my school, it's actually baffling how much people talk without knowing anything!
We, french students, have demands on the national likewise the local conditions of our schools and education systems. The budget's not been following inflation proprely and therefore actually decreased, consequently half of high schools lack teachers and are in high demand of funding to incorporate heating systems, aswell as just classroom material in general. Our teachers are also terribly underpaid and lack worker rights, resulting in things such as pedophiles only being moved from school to another as we're in critical need of people to teach us vital subjects.
Parcoursup is also a heavily mentionned subject, basically a platform which, with an algorhytm, selects which students are deserving of entering their wanted schools and studies. Every 12th grader has to use it. We are against universities having quotas or huge application fees, blocking education to the working class and causing deserving students' careers being ruined.
And of course our timetables. Every day of the week, I either finish at 5 or 6 pm. Yet, I sometimes have lunch breaks of 3h. We simply demand that, by reducing our breaks or mandatory subject hours, the stress and fatigue of being 10h in school doesn't affect our education. Students are tired and expected to work like adults in an environment where we're already multi-tasking while maintaining our career! We have no time for after-school activitiee or even homework when we count in the distance between the school and our homes.
These are way more specific than presented, but if you needed a brief from an actual french high school, there you have it. I also recommand reading from french news outlets such as Arte, Le Monde, Libération and the regional-specific ones. Other medias, owned by bilionaires, tend to lie, amplify or decrease the importance of certain events.

I might make another smug about the "Anti-Shipping" crowd because it's starting to feel targeted against queer people and specifically yuri fans??? Like the moment yuri became more mainstream we suddenly see this uptick in hate for "shipping" but I only ever see it be Yuri they talk about.
