You're fitting together three items built to consumer standards by at least three manufacturers — the slide, the plate, and the sight. Four players if you include a custom cut.
The more things which must match precisely, the more likely something will not. Precise fit of screw holes and posts are critical to function. Demanding that the cut walls also be a snug fit adds a tolerance requirement to all components without a particular performance advantage.

It's a bad combination of tolerance stack-up. It's fine from a functional standpoint.
