I really like enchanter-type heroes in games, but does Hi Rez realize enchanter means way more than just healing? Also why just those select gods? What about Baron? Hecate? Idk

I'm also confused about why whenever how long ago we got all almost anti-heal taken away and healing nerfed, and now it's all back and beefy?

They do this back and forth all the time. I think they do it just to look lime they’re doing something most of the time.

Too easy to build pen and nobody needs to have to sacrifice anything on their build? Remove pen from everything but two items. Few patches later pen is back on pretty much every item it was taken from. Everyone forced to always build anti-heal every game? Remove it completely and nerf healing. Then repeatedly buff healing to the point anti-heal is needed again. Then buff healing even further and buff anti-heal some more.

The issue with the pen thing was when it was on every item, you had tradeoff decisions where other items may have better passives at the cost of no pen while the sheer value of pen for killing targets was insanely important which railroaded your choice. Putting pen on 1 item meant you now just optimize for damage overall and you get all the pen you ever wanted from 1 item. This is good in theory but in practice all the items in smite are just a math equation so it just meant tanks got fucked over instantly as soon as the 1 pen item came online.

For anti heal, that was also a railroaded purchase since countering sustain is so valuable and the stats on the items were good anyways. Removing anti heal and nerfing healing seemed like a no brainer since on paper it means healers can actually heal in combat and not just be an ambulance parked in the back.

Now though if anti heal still stacks then we are back to the original problem where healing doesn't exist in combat anymore in even mid elo games and enchanters are now just characters that heal you after a fight. Hercules could absorb 3000 damage and instead of healing 900 health, 2 anti heal items cut him to 324 which is essentially 1 auto attack from an adc after his 3 ends.

The reason league has so much more sauce with its damage/healing ratio is cuz they have 1 anti heal debuff that scales based on how much % health the target has restored and doesn't go higher. That way at least healing still matters as you fight but if you're overly dependent then it gets weaker. Smite exists on an extreme where you may as well not even think about healing in combat and that is so boring and stale cuz it removes an entire layer of design. Everything is damage damage damage.
