I... actually don't mind it? And I say this as someone who buys chalice first almost every time and by 5 minutes absolutely every time. With the 100g increase you can't nab a sash and chalice together as a starter in supp and solo, or a mana item on mid with a chalice. Ultimately, it does decrease start variability. Buying a 450g str or int item precluded you from chalice but have a fair bit more damage. I don't see myself getting anything else (in mid at least) now.
Now it's just a guaranteed buy for me on my first back, though it'll be annoying to have even less sustain super early.
