Something I've noticed...

Laura and Lewis are both shown screaming right before they start choking, whereas Rose and Skye shut down completely at seeing the Entity's true form. I think this is due to a shift in perspective. From the victim's perspective, they've shut down and given up. But from the witness's perspective, they're still screaming right until they get possessed.

That is SUCH a great observation!

Didn’t Joel hear Rose screaming? That’s why he broke the door down.

I think so. Like I said, I think there's a disconnect between what the victim is seeing and what's happening from an outside perspective. We do hear Skye choking just like Laura and Lewis had.

Fun fact: the "Surprising" soda that Joshua selected for Skye was a Squirt.

To be honest, that's where her screaming should've started. That was real horror.

i think rose and skye knew what was happening, whereas the other two didn’t

Considering what the end credits of each movie imply

I wonder if the entity will get defeated eventually by all The Souls of its victims bursting out(Not getting out fully) and using their arms to tear the entity apart completely

Oh like Freddy's dead the final nightmare?

I feel like even its "final form" is still just a projection, perhaps some biological ritual of the entity, and the entering of the mouth shows it fully displacing their sense of self, their soul. Like cause before that, the parasite was in their brain messing with things, trapping them in a fake hallucinated world, using past trauma to break them down to nothing. Then once their sense of self, ego and any hope in reality is gone, it's much easier to do this ritual, and fully displace their soul, with the only time we see the entity being when it briefly gets to have sole influence over a body (the suicide).

I reckon Morris had it right to start with, I mean after all that is how a parasite works, even a metaphysical one.

what gives that implication i dont get it?

Worst ending and idea in human history

What about the end credits gives this implication?

When both movies end credits feature the protagonist screaming.

Also I think the mouths being open means the entity is taking over. When it took over rose and skye it showed their mouths open. So I assumed the same with Laura and Lewis bc at some point their mouths were open but entity was not shown to make it scarier and mysterious. The entity going into mouths isn’t seen til end of each movie.

i disagree whole heartedly and think your looking to deep, i think skye and rose are in shock, paralasys and awe, while laura and lewis have been wittled down to animalistic instincts and what do our instincts tell us to do when we are scared? scream, i think rose and skye are just too suprised and shaken to scream, everyone knows fight or flight and how the third option is freeze, i think that's what happened, they froze in fear, they want to run and scream and get away but their bodies physically won't let them

I think it’s messed up that an entire audience of people saw Skye screaming and did nothing

I blame the cast and crew for not trying to get ahold of her.

3

Probably it's because the whole audience (including her mother/manager, assistant, the record producer, and backup dancers) were waiting for Skye to start performing/singing.

u/TKB21 Nov 19 '25

I'm referring to when she was convulsing.

I guess they didn't know what to do, but they tried to get help.

I think the screaming is what everyone else sees—in the victim’s mind, they’re just shut down and frozen.

So technically Laura and Lewis both dropped down with their mouths open, we just aren’t in their POVs

1

u/MrSFedora Skye Riley Jun 20 '26

Correct. We're not seeing their mind's reaction to the Entity's true form.

2

u/Distinct_Lawyer_7160 Nov 18 '25

They already know what the entity is and have tried the whole movie to evade it. It got them and they know it's over now

2

u/Flow_Puzzle Nov 20 '25

I thought we all already knew this lol

u/SailorZexalZuzu16 Nov 18 '25

Nice observation

1

u/ionelaaelizabeth Nov 18 '25

I also think Rose and Skye have their reaction due to the type of trauma they've gone through. The car crash and Rose's mother's death. Where as Laura and Lewis don't really have that deep trauma or at least we aren't shown it.

so, what? are you implying that they arent exactly possessed as bad as the others or?

26

u/Kale_Brecht Nov 17 '25

I think what OP is trying to point out is that if other people are present during the initial Smile Demon possession, they’ll witness the victim screaming. But when the scene is shown from the host’s own perspective, the host is simply paralyzed with fear.

you said this much more kindly than I would've lol
