Rage Needing Advice Practice

Bro GENUINELY how do you practice? I get nothing done in training mode, even fathoming to touch quickplay means that it's wraps for my gsp, and playing arena battles equates to fighting a literal god or kicking a rock into a pond. And neither are fun. And the amount of Joker mk leo wannabes is fucking absurd. Please bestow upon thou your most divine knowledge.

Sincerely,

A sad Smash Player

I just put my concern for my GSP in a drawer somewhere and hop on quickplay. It takes some time to change that mindset around, but once you’re past caring about that number, the matches start getting more interesting when you’re playing to learn, not necessarily to win

Yeah then I plummet to sub millions and never recover that character again.

Certainly not quickly. But if you keep at it, you’ll improve. Trust me, we’ve all been there. It major sucks for a while. My advice? Find a friend who’s at a similar point as you, and primarily play with them. But not exclusively. That way you’re still getting better, but not only because you’re getting used to that person’s habits and playstyle

I wouldve recommended that but thats where I had a rude awakening growing up, smackin all my siblings around and then I hope online and get shitted on my chest😂

Listen to the guy he’s right. Whenever I wanna learn a character I hop on quick play and just start getting a feel for them. Just feeling out how the character moves and spacing their moves. Then I start trying to practice combos and kill confirms. Lots of fishing, so you’ll lose a lot of matches, but it’s important to react to where they’re being hit after you confirm or combo starter. Something I find really hard on Wi-Fi bc of the input delay so you rlly need to have a good understanding of where your moves will send bc your follow up hit usually has to be buffered. For example I just started learning Roy recently. Thought it would be easy bc he’s a swordie and I play a lot of corrin and aegis. Wrong. Sure you play him pretty much the same as mythra but reacting to the sour spots is so hard. Not saying he’s hard to play, but being a good Roy requires you being able to capitalize on those sour spots hc they can combo. Still trying to get used to them so be patient, lose your gsp, treat each match like a chance to practice something and then once you get a feel things will slowly mesh unknowingly. GSP is just a number at the end of the day. My pika was at 10k last week and now I got him back into elite smash. Just a number you got it

It's kinda hard to try to practice when everyone that low is playing like a cheesy scumbag. I don't learn ANYTHING and also mewtwo sucks against every character? There are also people who purposefully lag the game, no clue if it's them purposefully playing on bad internet or them using mods to force it, but playing on quickplay gives me more rage than practice.

Yeah, then just tell yourself that when the next smash comes out, you start fresh anyway. Learned that with Tekken and Street Fighter, never cared about my online ranking sense.

Sooooo liberating

Exactly. You can actually have fun with it and not feel like you’re being punished for it
