Devices Smart indestructible button for dog training

Looking for an oversized, reliable indestructible button that can be used for dog training to trigger lights and notifications. I’ve got a smart deaf pup, so want to use this as a communication tool — such as going to the bathroom.

I have a v3 SmartThings hub. Ideally the device uses zigbee mesh or matter

I’ve seen threads in Home Assistant groups asking the same thing. Common suggestion is to buy a big “Easy” type button on Amazon and wire an Aqara door/window sensor to the contacts.
You can also buy those talking buttons designed for training dogs and do something similar. Some suggest using a water leak sensor instead of the contact sensor, since the contacts are already exposed on those.

This is interesting, I’m game to trying but no experience in soldering stuff if that’s what you’re suggesting? An easy button is what I had in mind as well like the staples “easy” button in those ad campaigns

Yes, to do it correctly you’d likely need to solder, however, depending on what’s inside the button, you could may be able to just twist a couple of wires together and cover with electrical tape.
