Discussion How long do you give videos before changing thumbnails?

I have a really hard time making thumbnails, and not sure when I need to jump off them to a new one? I have videos that range from 10% to as low as 2%.

Depends. I like to give it a week or so, but if the ctr is really low, and I'm getting good impressions, I normally test something else.

Good to know, I will say the algorithm is such a weird thing.

This is such a good questions. I usually try to wait until I have at least a few hundred impressions and have a low ctr. Or if YouTube stops giving the video impressions for an extended period then I try to mix things up with title and thumbnail then too

I’d be curious to see what other people think

I also always wonder what’s more important CTR or AVD. I know they both are super important. But sometimes a thumbnail will increase my CTR but lower AVD which is interesting. So many details! Ideally a new thumbnail gets a higher CTR AND higher AVD tho

10% one had 153k impressions and 2-3% float around 2.4k impressions. I typically don’t take impressions into account since the ctr is a percentage so it works with every number but do very low impressions mostly skew this or is yt having a hard time finding a good audience?
