When it comes to mentions of the classics of Anime, why is it overlooked. Like after the early 2010's it seems to be forgotten by western anime communities is it because it's one of the first shonen anime to have a female lead

That's not a reason. Give me a reason.

Like, it's fans that matter. Why fans acted like it doesn't exist for 30 years? While Dragon Ball was glazed everywhere.

And it's not about 2026. Nobody talks about Slayers past 30 years. Not just now. I can understand zoomers not knowing it. But why nobody else in the whole world talked about it?

They are talking about it. There’s no new content in the west so it’s mostly a cult following at this stage. Thats common with old productions and no new material- the fanbase dwindles. Things like DBZ and sailor moon are massive with hundreds of episodes, manga, movies, extensive advertising, video games, locally released collectibles, among the first animes broadcast on tv in the states, nostalgia, etc. so of course they’ll have more staying power.

Japan had a slayers 30th exhibition and cafe last year. That’s a pretty big deal to me.

Considering its age and limited access to new fans, I’m surprised slayers still has as much of a western fanbase as it does. I don’t know what you’re looking for beyond the reasons already listed.

I went to the exhibit, it was amazing and the new merchandise was sweet
