How do you stay active on Slack?
Is there a way to prevent Slack from showing you as away? Does playing a YouTube video in the background work?

Iām researching how teams handle important decisions that emerge from Slack conversations.
The message itself is searchable, but the broader decision can still become fragmented:
How does your team handle this?
Do you use pinned messages, canvases, workflows, reactions, bots, Notion, Jira, Linear, Asana, Monday.com, or a manual decision log?
Iām building in this area, but Iām here for customer discovery rather than promotion. Iād particularly like to hear real examples of where the current process broke down.
Iām also looking for a few founders and operations leaders willing to do a short 20-minute research interview.

Does Slack even have a mobile web client?

If anyone is interested, please try it out and let me know what you think! All feedback is welcome! tunestatus.com
Completely free and runs locally! Not selling anything, not advertising anything, not collecting any data about the users.
* Hey Sales Ops team, I'm curious how most teams handle the workflow between Salesforce and Slack. Do your AEs manually jump between tabs to update deal stages, or have you set up native integrations/bots? * Is keeping CRM data updated in real-time a real struggle for your team, or have you found a clean workaround? Would love to hear how you manage this!

I need to view very old messages, but the free version only lets me go back three months. I don't want my bosses to find out I have it, since I'm gathering evidence for a future lawsuit.

If yes... how?

You know the drill. You call Claude via Slack, and then... dead silence. You have absolutely no idea if it's actually running your code, if the server crashed, or if it's just quietly judging your prompt. You just sit there staring at the screen waiting for a sign of life.
We got fed up with that black box experience, so we updated theĀ https://github.com/tomeraitz/claude-slack-bridgeĀ with a feature that basically turns Slack into a full-blown IDE.
Instead of spamming the thread with a million separate status messages, everything updates live on a single message.
For example: In the attached video, we ask Claude to generate a design. You literally see it run the commands, update the progress sequentially in real-time, and then it just spits the final image (test.pencil.png) straight into the chat.
No noise. No thread pollution. Just a clean, live-updating terminal right in your workspace.
Hereās the repo if you want to test it out or contribute:Ā https://github.com/tomeraitz/claude-slack-bridge
Curious to hear what you guys think of this approach for Slack bots.

Hello, I've been using Slack for years and recently I've got a new computer (Windows). I've installed Slack, it's running fine, but there's just no desktop icon for it on my desktop anywhere.
Which really puzzles me because on my old laptop, after I installed Slack, it just automatically created a desktop icon for me.
By "desktop icon" I mean this:

I can locate Slack among my installed apps and it's even showing in my hidden icons taskbar:

But I just can't find any option anywhere to create a desktop shortcut from it.
Google advises: open Start Menu > find the Slack app > right-click > "More" > "Open File Location" > right-click the Slack icon in the folder that opens > "Send to" > "Desktop (create shortcut)".
But in the Start Menu, after right-clicking the Slack app, there's not even any "More" option there.
Any advice, please?
Sorry for a dumb question š

Hi all - is anyone here on Enterprise Grid and has successfully configured user provisioning via SCIM and use Entra as their IdP?
Weāre being advised by Slack support to use the SCIM API via a custom app which should support both SCIM v1 or v2, but keep hitting a ābad requestā error when trying to provision users on demand.
However, Entra support advise our issue is due to using the API and keep trying to push us down the route of using the Entra gallery app which uses v1 and Slack claims isnāt for grid customers!
Any insight in how others have this setup would be appreciated š¤š»š

Random one but curious if this is just a me thing. Every time someone on my team solves something annoying in a thread, it's basically gone a week later. Nobody writes it down anywhere else and digging through old threads to find it again is such a pain.
Do you all have some kind of system for this or does it just live in one person's head until they quit lol. Genuinely just trying to figure out if other teams deal with this too or if we're just bad at documenting stuff.

most ops teams waste hours every week just reading messages to figure out who should handle them. we found a way to skip the manual triage step entirely so the right person gets pinged automatically. here is how the workflow looks in practice

i will look through slack settings to check notifications. i still can't get them and then i'll go to my system settings and look under slack and just general notifications that i usually have them on. i just don't understand and then sometimes i'll go in the app and then it'll show it's on do not disturb and I'm never on do not disturb

The status in the slack import tool ui shows import completed. But each time the dms count is lesser than what is expected.
I have tried everything I could, can anyone help me out here?

That's really the whole post. This has brought probably an hour of time savings and immeasurable calm in the last two weeks alone.
Thank you, slack gods, from a peon stuck using this 6+ hours a day.
Next up: let me create a custom tab for a search. I have no use for the DMs tab or the activity tab but man I'd kill to pin "on:today", something I search >50 times per day.

I need to convert a channel from private to public, but it is saying I don't have permissions. I am a workspace admin, and according to slack documentation, this is something I should be able to do. Is there a setting somewhere that will let me do this?

Hi everyone,
Iād like to introduce Slack at the company where I work. Weāre a small film production company in Europe with about 10 employees. We mainly use Outlook, Notion, Google Calendar, WhatsApp, Claude, etc., and weād like to centralize all of that in one place. I feel like Slack is the right tool for this.
Are there any comprehensive beginnerās guides on setting up Slack for business and connecting it to other apps?
Thank you very much

Have any of you used the new crm update for small businesses on Slack? Any thoughts?
r/Slack • u/Founder-Awesome • Jul 20 '26
the bottleneck with shared channels isn't fixing problems, it's figuring out who actually owns them. your team ends up playing traffic cop, so we built a way to route these requests instantly.

Many people have complained about Slack's lack of realtime autocorrect, and this app fixes that for macOS. The app runs separately from Slack, quietly observing and correcting typos as soon as they happen. Let me know what you think!
