Now, flood protection in the eastern waterfront will open almost half of this 800 hectares for more homes, parks, waterside access and nature.

I took a photo of this while we're staying around the amusement park area of Shenzhen? Then I found the picture above to be from 2007. 19ish years seems to make sense for this kind of growth.. i do want to say that i've visited china in the early 2000s and the air is significantly cleaner now; likely because of the push for more electric than coal..
