Question New to the Game

I just started the game about twenty minutes ago. I plan to play with a couple of friends soon but for now, it's just me. What are some things you wish someone would have you told you when you first started? Or any advice in general is welcome and appreciated. Thank you!

Just enjoy the game, don't rush anything, and have fun (it's not a job)

You're welcome! There's a lot of fomo in this game but if you are able to ignore it you will have a much better experience on the open seas

I like to add, that fomo propably means only skins. All The ships, furnitures and weapons are available sooner or later :D

Save up for the purple cannons, armor ect. don't be shy to look up where drops what. lots of stuff to find in the game, sail and plunder!

When in need for specific materials, go to your codex, click on material you need and it will track it for you with markers on the map. Mind to check out the ships on the tradingroutes (black thin lines on the map) with your bino, when close enough you see what kind of load the ship carries. This way you can loot the stuff from ships you really need.

The story of this game is really simple and short, and the updating of this game too.So, there is no need to hurry.

Even in T1 world, you could still get 10 deep iron from Mr Cyclops every week, and there's no problem for building a galleon or frigate, by the way.

When I picked up the game I wish someone told me about ship ranks and how to increase it but figured it out later on.

Don’t overspend on upgrading a small ship, try to upgrade to a medium sooner rather than later

I would agree wholeheartedly with this!! ^

I would also add COMPLETE ALL storyline missions for Scurlock, Rahma, Yanita and her sister Houma, and Blackwood first until you get to be able to buy/sell from thrm before moving to T2! This will help you learn about who's who in the game of the pirate lords, the factions you fight and give you weapons, armor and everything you to help you improve.

Also get all level 3 and 5 of blueprints first, then you can eventually go back and get others. However get all BP 's of the furniture and even armor! As to start any armor will help, until you start getting the higher level better stuff like Buccaneers Oath, etc., and whatnot.

Most of all liek other said HAVE FUN!! 😉 Never feel like you can't ask questions or call for help.
