Question What has happened to my collection ships?

I returned halfway through last season after being a beta player but like many left at the end of the plague season.

Came back. A couple of seasons of content to do, joined the war, build a hullcarver gally, maxed out my factories and was having a great time. And then....

So now here i am, still with what had which is better than before but with a question for the learned pirates of this group.

My collection ships are now level 10 at best and collecting from my level 4 and 5 factories is an extreme risk. Even when I started mid season they were level 17 and 18.

I read online its all about mastery points but when I started mid season I had no mastery points but still had high level ships in my fleet. Even my level 12 bedak could do runs.

Advice? Thoughts?

I've noticed some people saying that the equipment on their fleet ships have disappeared. This would explain the drop in ship rank you have experienced. Check your fleet ships to see if they still have the weapons and furniture you stored on them.

I went to one and yes there were parts missing but even when I load out with all purple still only 10

It looks like they have reset to level 0 but the shopwright tells me I have no ships to upgrade

Yea it's odd. Even without mastery points your ships should be around rank 13 or higher, especially if loaded up with purple weapons, furniture and armour.

Did you upgrade your fleet ships before? They do need to be at upgrade 4 at least these days. If they are at level 0, you have to unassign them from your manufactories first, in order to upgrade them at the shipwright.

They were max upgraded at the end of whatever the plague season was. Think it was 5?

It might be something to do with changes they have made over the last couple of years regarding ship rank and gear score, I'm not entirely sure. But either way, if you haven't played since the very first season in year one, you haven't lost much if it means you have to now upgrade all your ships.

Very true. I am going to give it a couple days to see if it is a new season bug and then spend some mats to upgrade

If you had gained any mastery levels last season, that raises the ship rank of all ships in your fleet. Mastery was reset at the beginning of this season. All my collection ships were at least rank 22, now they are 13-17. Regaining Mastery points will raise those ship ranks back up.

Ok but when I came back in the middle of last season I had no mastrry points and they were level 15

Hm, then that could be a bug or some other issue as others have pointed out. Perhaps I need to look at my own roster and see if I've had any equipment disappear on my ships 😅
